Thanks goldie. We now continue our spotlights.
So you got a female character who kicks major butt? Chances are, she's voiced by Michelle Ruff. Here's just a sample of her butt-kicking babes:
Rukia in Bleach
Yoko in Gurren Lagann
Kaori in Akira (both versions)
Elie in Rave Master (loved this anime!)
Mitsuki in Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure
Tatiana in Last Exile (ok, maybe she wasn't as physical as the others, but she was still a great and complex character)

Favorite Johnny Yong Bosch role: Kiba (Wolf's Rain)

Favorite Crispin Freeman role: Tsume (Wolf's Rain)

One role that Crispin Freeman did that I didn't see mentioned yet is Rude in FFVII: Advent Children (close enough to anime to count for me, anyway). I'm especially fond of that role because I guessed it was him before checking to confirm it. He can do a black voice surprisingly well.

I haven't seen too much of her work, but I figure I should put Tiffany Grant in this thread anyway, just to please you EVA fans out there. She's the voice of Asuka in Evangelion, Kim Hotal in Rahxephon, and appears in many other ADV titles. (That's the main reason I haven't seen much of her work. I don't have too many ADV titles.)

Time to talk about a very popular VA here on CAA: Vic Mignogna. He's mostly got his fans here because of his openness about his Christian faith. However, he's also got what TVTropes calls "Xpac Heat" because of the fact that he dares to dislike yaoi. (according to the tropes page about him)
Among his roles:
Edward Elric in both FMA animes
Ikkaku in Bleach (you know, the bald dude)
Broly in DBZ
Luciano Bradley in Code Geass
Mamoru in Rahxephon (what a jerk this guy was!)
Yoshimori in Kekkashi

Well, I'm certainly not in the minority here when I say that Vic is probably my favorite VA. I also just got home from a con where he was a guest - and after "meeting" him, I can say with certainty he's an incredibly kind and funny person. And very generous to his fans.

He's also really enthusiastic about the characters he plays. Tamaki from Ouran, Dark from DNAngel, Fai from Tsubasa, and of course, Ed from FMA are all roles that he gushes about constantly. He's just as much of a fanboy as we are, I think. :) And don't get him started on Star Trek unless you want to be there all day...lol.

I first heard him in Ouran, and he was great as Tamaki, but like most Vic fans, his Edward Elric is what cemented me as the squeeing fangirl that I am. He totally made that character his own. He was also hilarious as Kurz Weber in Full Metal Panic, and his Fai is adorable. I could go on and on...

That applies to any Trekkie, myself included. We can go on and on about our favorite Captains/Starships/Seasons/Episodes/Alien/Vulcan/etc...

(Incidently, mine is Sisko/Enterprise-D/DS9/"In The Pale Moonlight"/Ba'Ku/Spock...)

Anyway, Vic is one of my favorite V/A's around, and not just for his work in anime! He has this out-of-this-freakin'-world singing voice that just lifts the spirit. Two songs in particular "Far From Home" and "Could Be An Angel" really speak of his spirituality without being too overly "churchy".

Though he does tend to dominate the Adult Swim anime block at times (though admittedly nowhere near as much as Johnny Bosch -- "Bosch Burnout" anyone?), it's easy to see why he's one of the best V/A's around and why he's chosen for a lot of roles.

I was waiting for this guy to be brought up. XDDDDD!

I've only heard a couple of Vic roles:
Fai D Flowrite (Tsubasa Chronicles)
Hiroki Takasugi (Princess Nine)
That announcer guy from Angelic Layer
(I DO plan on getting into FMA mind you! XD!)

But, even though I haven't seen a lot of his roles, I'm still a fangirl of his. He's not afraid to share his faith and his beliefs, and that's something I really admire. :)

So far I spotted 2 VA's I like!

Tiffany Grant: I've only seen her in 2 roles, but she did excellent in them! She was King Ashura in Tsubasa Chronicles and Sai in Angelic Layer! I like how her voice sounds, it's a soft, soothing kind of voice.

Vic Mignogna: He was perfect for the role of Fai in Tsubasa Chronicles! I mean, seriously. you may think I'm crazy, but if he could speak Japanese, I am sure he would sound almost exactly like Fai's seiyuu Daisuke! His voice liked totally matched! And he was also the announcer guy in Angelic Layer! I didn't even know it was him 'till I read the credits! This guy is pretty talented. He was also in Heroic Age, but I still can't figure out which character, he sure can make alot of voices!

Apparently he was Rom Ror in that anime. I've only seen one episode of that anime, but I did like what I saw. :)

Favorite Crispin Freeman role : Kyon by far. Runner up is Holland . Least favourite role of his was the really short one (I don’t know if you could even call it a role) as the prince in Howl’s Moving Castle.

Stephanie Sheh : Eureka. I didn’t much care for her as Mikura. The high-pitched whisper is not my thing.

Michelle Ruff: I really liked her as Tatiana (Last Exile), she had a really mellow, but strong voice. Runner up is Yuki Nagato. Bleach dub in general makes my ears bleed, but I guess Rukia is one of those that I can stand.

Am I going to get shot for saying that I am not completely sold on Vic as Ed? I don’t know I just can’t seem to get into the dub of FMA, I just hear the Japanese voices over the English. I’m willing to give it more tries though.

Steve Blum (aka David Lucas) is our next subject. There was a time when he was as used as Johnny Yong Bosch and Vic Mignogna are these days. He is most famous for his role as Spike in Cowboy Bebop, but also played Orochimaru in Naruto, Darcia in Wolf's Rain, and hosted Toonami as the voice of its robot host, Tom. He even appeared in the short-lived Yu-gi-oh rip-off, Duelmasters.

I felt the same way when I first heard the dub of FMA. I mean, no matter how great Vic's voice is, it's just way too low in my mind to work for a fifteen-year-old. Romi Paku's pitch worked a lot better in my opinion. But as I watched more and more of the dub, I became more and more impressed with everyone, especially the main characters. In the moments of deep emotion, where it really counts, they pull the acting off to perfection. Vic put so much passion into his work as Ed, and it really pays off. I still hear Romi Paku's voice whenever I think of Ed, but I can't think of anyone who could have done a better job in English than Vic.

So yeah, obviously my favorite Vic role is Edward Elric :hits_self I also really liked the little I heard of him as Fai from Tsubasa, and other random clips from other animes. I think he's probably the best English voice actor I know of - and his personality, sense of humor, singing ability, and open faith are enough to seal me as a slightly-obsessed Risembool Ranger.

Steve Blum is also really good, of course. I haven't heard too much of his work, simply because for the animes that he's done and I've seen, I mostly haven't bothered to check out the dubs. I did really like his work as Darcia from Wolf's Rain, though - he also sounded just like a wolf. And he makes a pretty sweet Vincent Valentine....

I think I can safely guarantee you that you will NOT be shot. Even figuratively. We all have different tastes, and I think just about everyone here is level-headed enough to understand that. As long as no one gets nasty, I think we can all agree to disagree when it comes to something as subjective as tastes in voice actors. Plus, when it comes to a cast as amazing as the Japanese one of FMA, I doubt that anyone could blame you for being loyal. :)

Kate Higgins is a jazz pianist as well as an anime VA. She's also worked in non-anime as the voice of Scarlet Witch in Wolverine and the X-man. Here's a sample of her anime roles:
Karin in Bleach
CC in Code Geass
Talho in Eureka Seven
Sakura and Udon in Naruto (and Shippuden too)

If I'm not mistaken, Roy Mustang told me once that his favorite VA is Travis Willingham. He's usually someone who does authority figures. He also had a role in Secondhand Lions (he plays a punk at a bar. The movie is worth seeing, btw. One of Haley Joel Osmont's best)
Here's a sample of his anime work:
Roy Mustang (the character, not the CAA member) in Fullmetal Alchemist (both versions)
Andreas Dalton in Code Geass
Iggy in Ergo Proxy
Christof Sievernich in Monster

Aw, yay! I like Travis Willingham muchly. :)

Roy Mustang was the first role I'd heard him in, but I think my favorite of his roles would be Ginko from Mushishi. And it's got one of my favorite quips from a commentary ever, too.

Travis: Cuz, you know, I'm just like Ginko. Calm, low key..."
Mike McFarland (director): You're a big, spazzy dork!"

He was also Mori in Ouran, though you'd be forgiven for missing him, since, besides an assenting grunt or two here and there, he probably says...10 lines in the whole thing? lol. And his Iggy in Ergo Proxy was outstanding.

If you ever get a chance to see him at a con, do it. He's hilarious. Or just look him up on YouTube. Trust me, it's worth it.

I saw him at my anime convention. XD! I asked him what he thought of his role as Ginko in Mushi-shi. He loves and appreciates that role apparently. XD! I forgot exactly what he said, but I still remember it was positive and kinda calm-appreciative-remembering. XD! I LOVE his role as Ginko. He's so calm and interesting.

He also told us the pudding story. XD! lol

Am I the only one who sees something extremely hilarious about that sentence?

Anyway, Travis Willingham is another very talented V/A who really rocks my socks in different roles. However, along with my previous poster friends, I have to say his role as Ginko from "Mushi-Shi" was the one that really made me a fan. He just seemed to fit the role so perfectly and it's a departure from the "ALL FEMALE OFFICERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR TINY MINISKIRTS!!!!" persona of Roy Mustang (the character in FMA, not our resident multi-purpose anime guru).

Yuri Lowenthal is best known for his roles as kid heroes. I think he's got a good range. He's even worked outside of anime in Ben 10 (he's the main character in the Alien Force reboot) and Legion of Superheroes (both versions of Superman that appear in the series) Here's some of his stuff:
Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto and Naruto Shippuden)
Suzaku (Code Geass)
Touya (Moribito)
Haru Glory (Rave Master)
Simon (Gurren Laggann)
Yuu (Noein)
Karl Neumann (Monster)

No one knows Yuri Lowenthal from his best role which is Yousuke Hanamura.

Oh and he's also Sun Ce and Zhang He in the PS2 era Dynasty Warriors games and he does a fantastic job at those.

He's also Mordin's apprentice along with a few other roles in Mass Effect 2. It was kind of weird to shoot someone and hear them cry out in pain like Sasuke.

Gaara in Naruto--I had no idea he did this kid! That's some range!
Ukitake in Bleach (Captain Tuberculosis!)
Vincent Law in Ergo Proxy
Dr. Kenzo Tenma in Monster (he's really good as this character!)
Yoji Suganuma in Boogiepop Phantom
Lloyd in Code Geass

Travis Willingham is awesome! I've only heard him as Mustang in FMA and a supporting character in an anime movie that I can never remember the name of <_< But he has a very rich voice, and is quite funny at cons, too. Panels with him and Vic Mignogna are hilarious. Oh, and it's awesome to hear him tell the story of his experience in Secondhand Lions.

And I also like Yuri Lowenthal's voice, though I don't think I've heard any of his anime roles. I mainly know him from the Prince of Persia games, and he does an amazing job there. He really brought the Prince to life.

And these last few voice actors' cast lists have convinced me that eventually I have to see the Monster dub.
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.

"There's a difference between maliciously offending somebody - on purpose - and somebody being offended by...truth. If you're offended by the truth, that's your problem. I have no obligation to not offend you if I'm speaking the truth. The truth is supposed to offend you; that's how you know you don't got it."
