Running out of moves

Postby Midknight74012 » Thu Jul 15, 2010 12:46 pm

Here's the situation.

I have a $15,000 Sallie Mae loan and, somehow, a $40,000 Stafford Loan for my mere Associate's Degree according to a credit check my stepmom did for me. And just doing window cleaning is not going to allow me to pay these off and allow me to live on my own. My dad and stepmom don't want me to live with them forever and neither do I. So I've tried to get a job related to my degree but every one said they want someone with more experience. So, no better job, no job experience, and all agreeing I can't live here forever.

I decided to try to join the military so I can get these issues out of the way at once. This is not likely not happening. I have a past history of ADHD and if this remains true, I'm automatically disqualified. If I test negative, it'll go down as a misdiagnosed and then all I have to do is lose 30 lbs around my belly.

But if I test positive, I'm automatically disqualified to join the military, I have a huge loan to pay off with a job giving a little less then I need in a house where I soon won't be welcomed very long. I'll be all out of moves and have no ideas on how to progress in life. The only thing to turn to then is God. Please, I need prayer.

maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
Rescue the weak and needy;

Update: Things are still not well. A long time ago, I received a letter from Sallie Mae with a certain amount on some account. I didn't make it right away. I think I threw it away when I was cleaning my room and my stepmom doesn't seem to believe me. She is being a huge pain in the butt, constantly telling me to do this and that and when I do, she sometimes reticules me saying that's not good enough. You know, I never had the chance to become financially wise back in Oklahoma. The pay wasn't enough then and all it went to was rent and gas, nothing for me to use otherwise. I couldn't even pay insurance. Well now I can, but now I have to add several hundred dollars for car repairs because my airbags deployed a long time ago and failed the state inspection. I'm doing my best to save up and organize everything. So now I'm in the beginning stages of getting a budget and stick with it. I managed to save money here and there and make the necessary payments, which may have been the wrong account but the right company. She is getting on my nerves. I'm not financially stable, I know I have a huge debt to pay off, I know I have to make a budget and stick with it, I know I have some car repairs to do, SO LAY OFF STEPMOM!!!

Argh... I just feel like exploding.

Another thing is I'm thinking of going to the Americorp so I can get a forbearance on my student loans and never have to deal with them again. Also, I'm still doing my best to make good decisions but now my father got involved constantly telling me to think these things through. I do, I research it, I talk about it, I add it to the ever-growing list of things I can try to get my loans paid off and car repairs, and once again, reticules me. LAY OFF!!!

Midnight... I understand your frustration, however, keep you cool. You are living under their roof and they have more experience with life than you have. Also, maybe ask them what they think you should do. I'm still praying for you! :thumb:

Well, here's is the current plan that I feel most comfortable with. I am applying for Braum's once again and this time, it'll be for a good long time. I am applying for the Assistant Management position. I know how to do everything in the store, and do pretty well. I've gone to multiple stores when they needed the help, and was rarely late. I remember missing a day because of a new video game but that won't happen again. (Can't wait to eat those words). For a long time, I didn't like working there because of the low pay they gave me. If I can get this position, I ought to have enough to live on my own, pay off my student loans, and begin my journey to become a martial arts minister. Not to mention improve my health. I don't know where the position is needed but I am willing to go anywhere.

So, that's the current plan that I'll stick with for if and when I get that position. I'll have to obey a lot of annoying rules, the road is challenging, but with the God given strength, I can face it head on.

Just wondering, though: What's a martial arts minister?

I always do double posts. I'm just a jerk, aren't I?

Anyway, today when I called my district manager, there is an opening for a Shift Supervisor back at the first store I worked at. That means I'll be settling in my old digs. The pay is $10/hr starting. At 40 hours a week, before taxes, that's $1600 per month. With taxes, about $1248 per month. Stupid taxes.....

Alright, got a educated guess of how much I'm making. Now to make a budget off of that....

Alrighty then. The things have been set into motion. I still don't have a temporary housing till I have a permanent one though. I've been calling around to see if anyone could spare a room for 1-2 days and no one has been able to do that. The hours are 45 hours per week, making it about $1,350 after taxes per month. I can struggle to manage doing that alone, thing is finances are more easily manageable when 2 sources of income that is more then $2000 bucks per month. The roommate I'll be talking with is an assistant manager for the same company but works at a different store so it'll be alright.

Update: Peeps, my dad just gave me $1500 for travel expenses as well as rent. I always did love everyone here, but I feel bad for leaving in the first place.

Welcome to the Best Western at Terre Haute, IN. Not far from the interstate. I got the final 9 hours from here to Broken Arrow, OK. Home sweet home. I don't know if I'll have internet access when I get there.

Oh, and I now have a sunburn on my left knee.

Edit: You won't find me in chat, the internet connection here is lousy.

Finally a good connection. Enjoying a Green Tea Frap from Starbucks here in Tulsa, OK.

Here's the situation: I'm currently living with a friend in northern Tulsa, OK inside street gang territory, lovely. The new apartment that I found is $529 per month, $100 deposit, $40 application fee, and an additional $529 to cover the last rent. So, the cost is $1200 to from the get go. I'm $200 short and that is quite literally ALL I have on me. That would mean no grocery, no furniture, no gas money, NOTHING!!!
When I went to ITT Tech here, they are still helping me find a job related to the degree I got which will probably be an Entry-Level Assembler. I'm not sure how much it'll pay but I am also applying for a Shift Supervisor position for $10/hr at 45 hours per week at a Braum's quite literally across the street from the mentioned apartment and wouldn't you know it, she is looking for the exact position I'm looking for. The main advantage to going to Braum's is being able to buy groceries anytime I need to. The other job, assembly, is probably $15/hr at 40 hours per week but it's an awful boring job but the pay is better. The career service councilor said I could just do Assembly full-time and Braum's part time that way I'll have the best of both worlds. I won't be in the position that this Braum's needs which would be unfortunate for the manager since she's working 5:30 am to like.... 7:00 PM

Well, I got the job at Braum's, not the one I wanted though with that rent thing. It's back at the very last store I worked at back in Broken Arrow, OK. I forgot to mention that my "friend" smokes marijuana, or at least that what I think it was. I don't like it, and I'm currently not there. I'm using an active wifi at a restaurant that's closed for the night. I literally have nowhere to go tonight since my friend is not picking up his phone and his neighborhood is not a friendly place to be in the middle of the night. It's going to be rough tonight. I may just go to a motel for the night. I don't want to lose anymore money though since I need it for rent and such.

Reporting in from a laundromat in Broken Arrow, OK. I think I'll just use the house just to sleep at and nothing else. Each night till I get my own place, it will be at or past midnight. Kinda scary with the place in gang territory. I even sleep with my nunchukes in hand. Anyway, once laundry is done, I'll be showering off at a church called Rhema. Maybe I'll run into a familiar face and hopefully a safer place.

Update: I just got off the phone with a previous assistant manger and fellow Christian. He'll be calling around to look for a place till an apartment opens up. Should get back to me this afternoon.b

Yawn.... the guy wasn't there, he was at his parent's. So I ended up going to a cheap motel. $200 for 5 days. Lousy, password protected wifi. Hopefully enough time till my Christian friend finds a place. He knows a guy that is looking for a roommate in his 3 bed duplex very close to where my current job is. But man, I'm asking God to make haste because I'm running out of funds fast.
