Anime you most want to own at the moment?
PatrickEklektos (post: 1410854) wrote:OK Atria, I am going to have to make an educated guess, like a good detective, but base part of that on my gut. LOL I am guessing you like Sherlock Holmes and Death Note.
And what is the Anime you want most to own right now?

I totally love those (DN up to 25, at least- after that I fell off the bus), as well as Detective Conan and Detective Academy Q As for for anime I most want to own right now, I really want Summer Wars- it's such a great anime. Though a close second is Higashi no Eden!

I don't really know you, but I like surveys too.
I've been reading a little bit on this thread so I have some questions to ask as well.
How long have you and your fiancee been together?
[I also am getting married, but in September this year = D]
How long have you been into anime?
Why did you like rap, and was rap the only music you liked before classical?
What part of the US do you live? [if you don't mind me asking]
What are your favorite animes?
How did you get into liking anime?
Okay, I think that's enough for now. ^_^
PatrickEklektos (post: 1413461) wrote:Hullo Julianne! It is a pleasure to meet you! And an honour to meet a fellow adventurer (or meybe blessed works better ^_^ ) of the matrimonial path, or as I view it, the matrimonial calling. Holy Matrimony is a beautiful calling, a mission statement, a living gospel tract! It is a beautiful picture of Christ and His Bride! The Church! So marriage is such a beautiful and lovely thing and I congratulate you! I am very happy for you and those of my other friends here who are getting married! Praise the Lord!!!
My lady and I have been together almost exactly a year now. (:sadness: reflects on the ten months until the wedding day) But that is so cool you just have until September to get married! So awesome its so close! (I gotta wait 'till April).
I've only been into anime for a couple of months, just since my bro introduced me to it. But, as a writer, and noticing his talent, I became interested as a possible outlet, thus began studying anime/manga and have fallen in love with it! ^_^
Actually, technically, I liked Classical before rap, but have gone back to it since I gave up rap. The story to my interest in rap is interesting... To start off, I was homeschooled. So I hadn't had much exposure (thankfully) to worldly music until I took my second job at a department store. While there, I listened to the radio over in the store and, being very analytical, studied the lyrics (for me, the beat or style of music doesn't actually bother my conscience so much as the lyrics themselves, which can be a stumbling block for me). So I studied these lyrics and besides being mildly entertained by the logical and moral inconsistencies, I was bothered by it. So I looked for an alternative for when we closed shop and my coworkers cranked up the volume. My Classical and Celtic wasn't getting these lyrics out of my head. So what I did was start listening to Newsboys and some other Christian Rock. Here I was introduced to logical, and deep thinking lyrics as well as neat electronic sounds and heart throbbing beats. I came to want more synthetic sound and beat as well as deeper lyrics. I found rap was the only outlet for such. A good rap song with deep lyrics will have you going over the song over and over, discovering new things all the time. At first it was just Toby Mac until I discovered the Christian Reformed rappers loosely known collectively as the 116 Clique. But I have come to agree with my bride that it does effect one's attitude, the beat anyway. So, for her, I don't listen to it anymore. Indeed, she is of value far above rubies, so what is but a few pebbles to the treasure that is she!? <3
And I live in the Midwest, though I actually come from Colorado. ^_^
And my favorite Animes are Darker Than Black, One Piece, Samurai X, Captain Harlock, Black Jack and I am starting to get into Samurai 7, Gundam 00, and Romeo x Juliet. (No, I don't really have alot of time to watch all that I want seeing as I am getting married and my lovely bride takes first priority... so wedding plans do make it such I haven't been able to watch all these to the very end yet but I am working on it! ^_^)
OK, my turn. How long have you and your fiancé been together? And what are your favorite Animes?
Oh! and, to any and all interested, things have kinda slowed a bit so I am going to be able to get back to the Novel Chaos Game, which I am now calling Chaos Universe and am taking much more seriously as a literary work. I have some new ideas and look forward to going forward with them!
Also, if y'all are interested, I now know how to post a personal pic, so I have posted one of my favorite pics of me and my lovely bride!

Juliannesan (post: 1413682) wrote:Very cool! Also very noble of you for giving up rap like that, that's awesome. I mean, if that's what you feel called to do and you wish to please you're bride. That's really great. God bless you, man.
I know what you mean about rap, it can lead into wrong sets of mind, if you're not careful, even with just the beat itself. And if its a hindrance and conviction for you to stay away from... God bless you for following that.
I myself am not really into rap, because of the similar problems, but I do listen to it still occasionally. [mostly Christian]
I'm more into soft rock and classical myself, also I love Japanese rock [some of it, like from certain animes and stuff] same with J-Pop. But I am careful with lyrics and things like that.
Needless to say, I'm a very musically inclined as well as inspired person.
I also was homeschooled Kindergarten and up. And I am grateful for it. = )
That's cool, Colorado. I'm from the East Coast, originally born in the East Coast. Massachusetts, specifically. I'll be moving to New Hampshire with my new husband after our marriage though.
My fiance and I have been together for almost 2 1/2 years. [in September, it will be officially 2 1/2 years] We met at a Christian Bible conference. God really moved in a great way for us to meet. Couldn't ask for a better person. = ) And we've been engaged over a year now. [it was a year as of July 26th] so I definitely know the feeling of a long engagement. But it's worth it, if you want to not worry about getting your plans all organized the way you want to.
...
Incidentally, I've liked anime since I was 14. Soooo. it's been 9 years almost? That I've had time to gain so many favorites. There's probably more but I can't really think of more than that right now.

Atria35 (post: 1413698) wrote:For question number 1- I'd have to say... it depends on your definition of 'good, clean anime'. I'd say that Summer Wars is pretty clean, on the level of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (only one or two swears, one or two references to sex, and a brief non-detailed almost-nude shot that's entirely non-sexual). I'd rate it about a PG-11 or 12. Higashi no Eden is a bit more mature, with some heavy themes about what's going on politically in Japan. While it's pretty non-sexual, there are some undetailed-nudie bits that, believe it or not, have some importance to the story and some minor swears here and there. So more like PG-14 or 15.
My favorite commercial? You know those Coca-cola commericals that come on around Christmas with the polar bears sharing bottles of Coke? Yeah, I love those!
So do you and your fiance have a place to live picked out?
What is her favorite dessert?
Her favorite color?
And has she picked out a dress yet? (I love hearing about the dresses! XD )
PatrickEklektos (post: 1413714) wrote:Ah! I see. hmmm... well thanks for telling me about the nude scenes. Just those alone will keep me from seeing an anime in most all cases. I am ashamed to say that, yes, I watched Darker Than Black all the way through... as it did have me hooked and tried to change to another screen with the bad scenes. I'm really ashamed of that. Anyway, I try to stay away from such scenes alltogether. ya know, I'm practically a married man! So I figure my mind is already committed to my bride... and my eyes are hers, and no one elses. So yeah. Thanks alot for the heads up! ^_^
If you like hearing about the dresses, do you have a dress picked out already?

wow! Well, that is encouraging that it won't compromise me... though now I have to go into a philosophic quandary as to whether or not I wish to watch something I wouldn't want her to watch... lol but wow! so that actually adds to the story? I can't possibly see how. But I don't really want to think too hard on it.
XD Yes! She does think its cool!!! And, no, I haven't picked out clothes for her yet, just because it isn't practical yet. But we are both looking forward to that experience! I know I have since I was a young boy (just something so awesome in being able to appreciate her and her tastes when clothes shopping!) But i do get to appreciate what she picks out as she shows me some things she gets!
Now, I am not a connoisseur of cake by any stretch of the imagination. But we are doing a traditional cake!
And her gorgeous hair is brown!
As to who she looks like most, its interesting, she looks distinctly unique. I mean she has a few traits from her mom and a few from her dad. But she doesn't look more like one or the other. I dunno though. LOL Hope I didn't dig myself a grave with that one! LOL
