Classes :/

Postby Destroyer2000 » Mon Jul 19, 2010 9:49 am

I'm really in need of prayer. I've been stressing out over my classes lately, and I'm not doing well in one that is a major prereq to my major...so big, in fact, that I can't take anything else until I pass it. It looks as if I'll fail it, or atleast not make high enough to progress, and I"m worried about both my GPA and whether I"ll graduate on time. To make matters worse, it is full in the fall. So if I fail...I dunno. I'm going to speak with the professor that teaches it in the fall to see if I can get a seat opened up for me. Thanks.

Talk to your professors now :) Maybe, they have something for you to do on the side that may help ^^ Extra credit if you will ^^

I agree with Tsukuyomi--talk to your professor as soon as you can. Is there also an undergraduate coordinator for your program, or a registrar you can discuss this with? The best way to deal with this is to act now.

I can definitely relate to what you're going through. Remember that no matter what happens, you'll carry on. I'll keep you in my thoughts. :)

I will pray. I hope everything turns out and your proffessor can help.
Heads up, I don't go on this site much these days...

Here's an update: I"ve spoken with my professor and gotten special admittance into the fall semester course. However, due to my grades in the course, the best I can hope for is a D. I'm under great stress right now, because if I do not pass Calculus, I could lose my scholarship, and that is the only way I can go to college without burdening my mother. Thank you for all the prayers, and I ask that you continue to keep praying.

I bet you can do better then a D. Obviously, it will be tough and if you have a heavy course load you might not be able to do much better then a B, but I think you are setting yourself up for failure if you have that sort of attitude. How about finding some people in that class or elsewhere who are good at Calculus and study with them? There's no reason why you have to try and do this entirely on your own. Anyway, it's great to see that you've been admitted into the class. I'll pray that God will help you throughout this next semester with that course along with the others you are taking.

It depends on the school. When I was in school, during a heavy course load, I don't see how I can get over 80% (B) when the class average is 53% (and that is one of the top schools specialized in Math so I am under no illusion that I am somewhat special). But I do agree that asking for help (especially from TA) is important, there is always more you can learn from other people.

What I did wrong was believing that asking for help is cheating. Talking with other students about assignment solution in detail is, but if you are asking TA who will be careful not to spill the beans for you, you should be safe.
