Tetsujin 28 (2004) vol. 1-2 (episodes 1-10)

So far I'm enjoying this series. Remakes of older properties tend to be somewhat hit or miss; this seems to be one of the better ones. This version is much more serious and dramatic than the original, but still retains the same feel. Most people probably will ignore this series due to the older character designs(which are basically touched up versions of the originals from the 1950's/60's designs), but I personally love the art. Well, I love the art except for one episode where I'm pretty sure the animators were drunk/asleep/lazy as some designs were inconsistent or poorly drawn in almost every other frame. Other than that I don't really have any complaints. The dub isn't anything special, but it's not necessarily bad either. The music is nice as well (It also happens to be from the same guy who did the music for FMA:Brotherhood).

It isn't a groundbreaking series or anything that absolutely must be watched, but it's still a solid show as far as I can tell.

Overall, the first half has been very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to watching the rest.

I watched Higschool of the Dead episode 2. It wasn't any better. It was just as awful and the fanservice was in no way lessened. So I dropped it.

I also watched Digimon Xros Wars episode 2. That continues to be awesome! Though the pacing is a little weird. As my brother put it "It is like super fast then it will slow down for 3 minutes then it will be super fast again" Still I am liking it so far and I enjoy the references to past series. I still wish they would do an actual crossover.

Well I wanted to watch Le Chevalier D'Eon, but it looks like Funimation has taken all but four episodes of it down. A bad sign for the older-ish stuff?

*EDIT Started Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. ...This one's for mechana!

**EDIT Also began X TV.

They cycle shows in and out. Le Chev was also taken off of Hulu, sadly. Looks like it was replaced with The Sacred Blacksmith and My Bride is a Mermaid... >.>"

But at least they have all the series of FMP!

Amagami SS 03 is notable for being incredibly awkward and weird.

Finished Soul Eater. Yeah, the ending was...meh. But the rest was so good, I won't be too hard on it. :)

As I've told other people, Soul Eater suffers from the same problem as FMA, in that the last 10 or so episodes are different from the manga, and so they didn't fit as well because it had been setting up for a longer and better story. So the manga doesn't have the same problems.

Completed: Tales of the Abyss
Ok... so this is about my favorite series ever right now... I got really, really involved somehow, and that certainly never ended. Luke was my favorite character before starting, and continued to be so until the very end. And I don't usually cry actual tears, but I most certainly cried during and after this... Then again, I had a sort of special connection to it and what some of the characters were going through. (Ummm... Luke :P ) Though I was mad at Anise and continued to be through most of the end, the characters were easy to get attached to and the plot was amazing. I must now go buy the game and draw all the characters to vent out these compacted, frozen emotions...

Also,
Fullmetal Alchemist Episode 20 What on earth... My mom fell ASLEEP during this episode @_@ (?!?!) I'll probably have to remind her what happened... just like I had to do with 19... XD Anyway, still an amazing anime. The humor here was done well, though I was surprised to see that they changed some things from the manga that I wouldn't have expected.
Instead of having created a new life form when they did human transmutation, and watching them come to life and die, they only created an empty body in the Brotherhood. So they were released from a lot more guilt, and there was no 'proper burial' scene for their mistake.
I found it odd, but not necessarily bad. Overall, I probably preferred the manga's take on the event, but not enough so to dislike the anime over it.

Canaan 3-6- Well, aside from a little too much almost-nudity for my taste, the story just draws me in. I was so busy trying to put off watching the rest of Shangri-La that I had put off all anime, just to avoid that show- and this was the perfect one to get me watchng again. I can't wait to see where it's headed! A solid storyline, characters that are interesting, and excelent pacing all make this an above-average show.

Completed: La Corda d'Oro ~ Primo Passo.

This series was simply stunning. Its the first anime series that I have ever watched where I have loved the entire cast. The music for it was wonderful and the characters developed nicely throughout the series. I wish it was a longer one, however.

Currently Watched/Watching:
Black Cat Ep. 2
S-CRY-ED Ep. 8, 9, 10, 11
Kaleido Star Ep. 21, 22

What do you do when you have a headache that doesn't debilitate you but makes it difficult to concentrate on computational linear algebra or complex analysis? Watch some animu, of course.

First of all, we have the unfortunately named Cat **** One, based on a manga of the same name, but sanitized/localized as Apocalypse Meow. The original manga was about a reconnaissance team in the Vietnam War, except everyone is a cute animal. The pilot episode I watched was a 3D CG short that takes place in the 80s in the Middle East. It can only be described as Counter-Strike with bunnies (USA GIs, get it?) and camels (get it?). Fairly impressive in its depiction of armed combat. Also adorable.

Next, in the Ghibli watching project was Howl's Moving Castle. I found the art and music to be extremely beautiful, a lot more than what I was expecting. It really had its moments too. Unfortunately, as a whole, the connection from one plot point to the next and between the characters completely eluded me. While it's not completely random and mood-swinging like Angel Beats or something, I couldn't see the logical progression for a lot of the things that happened during the second half of the movie. This is not a good thing.

Finally, I decided to get around to finishing Escaflowne, which I'd been putting off for about ten years now. It was pretty good! I don't think there's really much else to say, except that the ending kind of a 'welp, everything's okay now, I guess I'll, uh, go now'.

Mm. I agree about Howl's Moving Castle XD I was watching through it waiting for one plot twist to come to a conclusion, and then it just... moved on to the next thing. Leaving me baffled, but fortunately still interested. By the end, I had given up on a connected story and had moved on to trying to connect within my own mind. I failed XD

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire is a three-episode prequel OVA for the Bungaku Shoujo movie. It probably requires either a viewing of the movie or a reading of the first volume of the light novel in order to get anything out of it. I've read the first volume already, so the first episode made me want to watch the movie even more and pushed me to preorder the first volume of the light novel since it's coming out in North America next week (on the same day as Starcraft 2, so I preordered that too). I really like Bungaku Shoujo, can you tell?

Got out of my anime slump by finishing Canaan- overall, I'd give this an 8 out of 10. I'm not sure what it was all about in the end, and there were a few really wierd moments in there, but overall I was touched and entralled and excited, and enjoyed it. Next: Tengen Toppen Gurren Lagann!

Fiiiinally finished Ouran. *sob* I think I may need to get the manga.
I have 3 Ghibli films to watch - a friend let me borrow them and that means that I have to get most of them back by Sunday. I don't think I can watch them all, but Nausicaa and Totoro will definitely be watched. I've been looking forward to seeing them for a while.

Surprising. I have heard such good things about the (2007) TV series. Your MAL says you are watching the (1980) movie, so maybe it's just the movie.

Darker than Black: Ryūsei no Gemini
Solid sequel. I enjoyed it, but it only succeeded in answering the first season's questions...with more questions. It felt more like a bridge arc than an actual finale.

Occult Academy 2- She's a little more violent than I'd care for, but she's not a tsundere! I think I'll really enjoy this one.

Shiki 2- While I still think they're having too much fun with the FX, it isn't as annoying this time around. Actually, I'm starting to get into this.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann 1-6-"If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing." A motto that this anime goes by. ... But she did a face-heel-turn with who she had a crush on, and, well, my fave pairing hath been crushed! Not fair....Even so I'm having fun with this anime.

I finished my toe-dipping of the summer season today with:

Amagami SS ep 1.: While I agree with ANN that nothing really happened, I thought it was cute all the same and enjoyed it.

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi ep. 1-2: I don't care if people think it's stupid LOL! I just about rofled at the Prince of Tennis reference, and anything that parodies classic fairy tales makes me happy. This is a keeper.

and...

Kaiba ep. 4-5: I am enjoying my slower pace with this...so far I am continuing to adore it. =) It is very sad, but it's a strangely pretty sadness. Just so very tragic.

Legend of Legendary Heroes ep. 3: I was not expecting something with such a title to be that gory, violent or sad or even moreso good. This is definitely my favorite thing of this season. =) Way fun, but deep enough to be enjoyable on more than one level.
