Well, enough soccer for me to see in the past month to conclude it still has some serious flaws that will prevent it from ever gaining a foothold in the US. Most significant: called fouls that aren't; non-called fouls that are; offsides and its many interpretations amongst the officials; and the acting that goes along with all of it.
Nevertheless, congratulations to Spain, who certainly showed up to play, and condolences to the Netherlands, who squandered a number of opportunities and, in the end, were just less lucky than Spain.
And, in the "at least there's one redeeming thing about this game", there are actually two:
1. Socctopus.
2. Farewell, vuvuzelas!!
