Lolz. No, surpriusingly. Out of the first season, I think there were only 2 episodes of filler (and one really dragged-out chapter), but they stayed very close to the manga. Because it's still ongoing, they had to cut off after a big arc, but it's like One Piece in how faithful and filler-less it is.

Hmmm. How about when they inconsistenly budget for animation for episodes? You might have one episode with wonderful (or at least decent) animation, but another where they might as well have used Powerpoint. That seems nigh unforgivable.

I am pleasantly surprised that there is so much moe hatred here. We can all be friends now.

To provide a new answer to the question, this:

AMEN. Not that useless female characters are exclusive to anime, but it annoys me if all the girls are like that, or if they're supposed to be warriors but are still useless or whiny. (Being 'the hero's girlfriend' does not a heroine make.)

Also, when there's suddenly a very rude moment, or "barbie doll nudity", or scantily clad girls/women.

Naruto's 'sexy jutsu' irks the heck out of me. :shady:

Clearing that out of the way, moe is the cancer that is killing Anime - if you disagree you are part of the cancer.

I'm sure I'll think of more later.

Moe is a cancer but so is da sterotypical bishie boys of shojo.

One of my anime pet peeves is the undecisive male/female lead. It gets irritating when one out of every three leads are complete pansies.

My biggest pet peeve about anime is when a guy hero that has to save the world doesn't have a spine, or has to have someone push him into doing something he doesn't want to do.

Really? There was some filler in the beginning (the whole tree arc ><") but I didn't think it was that far off from the manga....

The eps I saw had Linalee on a date in Paris, and Komui wrecking the city and causing hijinks the whole time, while accidentally batting around an inept low level enemy. There was never anything like this up to the point where I stopped the manga...and where i stopped was NOT a hijinks ready situation...or Paris.

As said, there was some filler (that date episode was only one episode), but most of it (21 of the first 25 episodes) were actually pertinent to the plot and followed the manga... though the vampire arc was dragged out a bit >.>

I never said it was fillerless, just that it was pretty faithful to the plot of the manga.

If we are all getting together and having a party in this thread and hating moe, count me in; I will bring the potato salad.

The tropes page says that moe is supposed to trigger the "big brother reflex". Now I don't know about you, but I didn't think the "big brother reflex" was about wishing swift and painful death upon subject of your affections. Oh, and fanservice and high pitched voices need to be seconded. They kill anime for me fast.

No, the anime is 103 episodes long, but I've only seen 25 episodes so far, so I can't say anything about how true they are to the manga. But my friends have seen it, and they've said that there's even less filler as you go one.

Since the manga is still ongoing, it only reaches the Arc arc, but....

There's like 20+ episodes of filler after the vampire arc ends in the anime. A few of these were stories adapted from side novels, and a few were intended to flesh out certain characters and events more than they were in the manga(General Yeegar, etc.), but a good portion were entirely anime-original.

Around episode 50 or so, it launched back into the manga storyline and remained consistently on that for the rest of its run before they ran out of material to adapt. I thought it was a decent adaptation that could really have been improved if they hadn't started the anime so early in the manga's run.

Yelling out attacks in modern anime, as well as using the same scene to perform that technique (ex. Fairy Tale) gets kinda annoying, as it becomes old quick. Also, over the top tsundere Mary Sues, overreaction to the smallest thing (unless given a really good freudian excuse) and bad or over-exaggerated dubbing.

Also, in TMoHS, Mikuru's moeness is deliberate and important to the plot (science-wise and club-wise), but I do know what you mean by the voice.

In anime I REALLY loathe over excessive and unecessary sugary-cuteness that makes me want to throw up my lunch until my whole body is empty of any fluid:

Over the top fanservice is my anime pet peeve. I don't mind a nice amount of it but when it ruins the story then that is too much.

Lets see:
1. Bad or no story - I hate it when you watch an anime that looks like it might be good but it ends up having an awful story or just has no story at all and by that I mean basically a giant non-thinking action romp. I have had this happen to me several times where I wanted to claw my eyes out because it was so awful.

2. Bad or annoying animation - when the anime is good but the animation is awful and gets on your nerves thereby taking away from the story.

3. Probably my biggest anime pet peeve is (sexual) Fanservice period - It serves no purpose and is disgusting and tasteless. It tends to ruin an anime for me.

Agreement. necessary= sometimes girls are that big/ shower scene obscured by steam-(hey i think in the shower and sometimes monologue too); unnecessary/sexual = Orihime in Bleach-type (argggg totally unnecessary pervertedness), size HH, and playboy-esque bunny suits.

What I hate even MORE than unnecessary fanservice is when an awesome character shows up and you really admire her cuz she's not a useless female and you cant find any pix of them on the internet that isnt HEAVY FANSERVICE. Case in opint: kallen stadfeld/kouzuki. awesome kick-butt girl who doesnt back down but all you can find on the net in pix of her in the 1 episode where she's undercover in a bunny suit. fanservice, yes (but gives her an excuse to be there). but did her action figure really have to be that outfit??? :mutter::mutter::bang::bang:

boring lengthy side character origin flashbacks (hem hem NARUTO cough)

but wats the difference between moe and young-looking girls. couldnt azumanga daioh b called moe then? wat about lucky star? :shake: i so confused.

Best explanation I've ever come across about Moe- http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Moe

That's why only one or two of Azu's girls could be considered Moe,

Actually, Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are considered moe, according to ANN:

So for something different:
What are your biggest anime pet peeves?

I have a couple: (and this is probably mostly dub situations, because I really like dubs, and I usually watch them. Keep in Mind: this is not an anti dub/sub thread. XD

Over-reaction. I know it's probably a cultural thing, but it really bothers me when certain anime characters just over react about the smallest things and yell. I mean in some situations its really hilarious, but when almost every line is a freak-out exclamation I sort of cringe and even feel embarrassed that I'm watching the show. >_<

High pitched high school girl voices:
Ex. A- Orihime from Bleach, oh my gosh. I have never heard any high school girl talk like this in my life! They may have a higher voice octave then I do, but really? Its like a raspy pitch, like she's trying to hard to act cute.
Ex B. Mikuru from TMoHS. Adorable character, but really? Is it a Moe thing in Japan or something?

Maybe I'm being too critical here, and I apologize for that... I was just wondering if I am the only one who has certain issues with anime. Maybe I just do because I'm older than some of the members here?

Biggest pet peeves:

1. Baad dubs with lousy acting or dubs that just change character names for no reason.

2. Filler eps.

3. Fanservice. In any way, shape, or form.
