well I don't have kids but I definately understand how you would feel. I felt that way for a while but you've got to understand that none of those can have power over you unless you let it. What It seems to me is really that your doubting the wrong person. your right in having a trust issue, but I think that the trust issue your having is with God. You see he wouldn't let anything happen like that. Your forgetting the power that's higher than everything because your so focused on the little things. I was there once. Still am a bit, but you've got to realize that God's bigger than those things and won't let that happen.

Does that mean you should slack off no. Infact, you should still be vigilent infact this could get you a chance to screen the anime before you watch it, which can or can't (depending on whether you choose to let them watch it) lead to family discussions afterward about the days episode, which you in turn, can teach your kids about what God thinks about what the characters are doing according to the bible. Don't like that a character steals? use it to bring them verses of what God thinks about it. Like a selfless act or character with an admirable trait? Show them what God would think of them and if he would want your kids to apply it (again all using the bible though). My point is yes the culture can affect you if you let it just like alot of things in this world. But you've Got to Trust God will take care of you all. And on top of that use that sound mind God gave you to turn that around to something for his glory!.

hope this gave you perspective :D

Welcome to the forums, MCMOM!

It's very natural and healthy to be concerned about what your children are learning from their entertainment, and I think you've really hit on a good starting point in examining how each work looks at power and where it comes from. This is actually a very popular approach embraced by both secular and religious writers, and I think it's very useful in practice.

My wife has even gone so far as to write an academic dissertation on proper Christian discernment in works of fantasy. I'd be happy to e-mail it to you if you want.

[font="Comic Sans MS"][color="LightBlue"]"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Bad corny: VeggieTales: The Pirated Who dont do anything - i love veggietales, but this was downright terrible and not even funny
Good Corny: FrankenThumb (with ThumbWars and Batthumb)- they r so stupid and dorky its hilarious! They are parodies of popular movies with thumbs w/ CG faces as the character. awesome!

Do you recycle?
Do you own a bike/ know how to bike ride?
Strangest thing that's ever happened to you?
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Yeah, that can happen with movies and cute guys ^_^ I had that when Pirates of the Caribbean came out...:red: sorry had a flashback there.

-of course!
-Yes and yes. tho not often enough. I'm more of an 'exercise by DDR' person.
-I was doing Skype with my friend who is an exchange student from China. We were talking to her friends in China. And both of the friends we talked to kept saying, "Hello, [Airi], you are so pretty." It was really nice, but really awkward. I was thinking, "Is this cuz I have blond hair & blue eyes?" XD it was self reaffirming, but awkward.

also a creepy guy in a Bakuman character costume wouldnt leave me alone while I was visiting Hollywood Blvd.

-Japan Duh!

Re-watched entire series with my sister. Yes, I was obsessed. Still am: plan on buying a boxed w/ ost included. Really want some action figures, a poster, or something for it.
