Has anyone seen these movies? I was considering watching them but I heard that there was nudity in them. Is this true? Please let me know. Thanks!

I've seen the first movie, and I thought it was pretty great! I'm a huge fan of the manga, and the first movie was very true to the parts that it portrayed. Going on the assumption that the second and third movies are just as true to the source as the first, the parts with nudity in them are very likely not sexual in nature. They're likely female nudity, and probably related to either a spa scene of sorts, and/or a scene in a doctor's office.

Again, I've not actually seen the movies, but if they're as accurate as the first movie was, that's the extent nudity found in the manga, to my knowledge. XD Hope that helps!

I've seen them (own them, actually XD I'm such a fangirl!), and they're really just condensed versions of the manga. Nothing is there that you won't see in the manga, and vice versa. However, due to how epic the manga is, I really would recommend reading it, too, along with seeing the movies, because there are subtlties that are glossed over and don't come across as well in the live-action.

Oooh, are they for sale in the states without being imported? I would love to own them. XD I haven't been able to see the other two because of my school internet, so if I could find them for a fairly cheap price, that'd be epic!

Anyways, ditto on reading the manga along with watching the movies! It's so excellent!

Ok...umm so what does that mean? Is there nudity in the movies or not? Sorry I just don't want to rent/watch them and then be hit with an unexpected nude scene.

There's no nudity in the manga, there's no nudity in the movies. Though there is a scene in a 'love hotel' (girl doesn't get undressed, it's bcs the main charrie wants a chance to talk with her). Out of curiosity, who/what review site told you that? Regardless, if you want me to reconfirm this, I'll be fast-forwarding through the movies tonight and I'll post a confirmation of this tomorrow morning- I wanted to write a quick review for one of my friends, anyway.

But I'm still standing by my suggestion to read the manga too, because there's fine details that are edited out due to time constraints and the movies feel rushed compared to how the manga was. They hit the major events, but there's phychological/symbolic things that you just won't get in the movies, as awesome and amazing as they are for being so true to the manga.

I haven't seen the movies, but there are some instances of nudity in the manga.

So yes, the manga does have some nudity (though not sexual in nature: one scene was in a spa and another was in a doctor's office, both instances of female nudity. Also, in a prison, some men have to stand completely nude, but you only see them from behind), and if the movies are that true to the manga, then those scenes will likely also be included.

I completely forgot about those. Has it been that long since I've read the manga?! But yeah, just fast-forwarded through the first two movies- the spa scene was cut, and the doctor's office scene (I'm assuming that was in the 'love hotel', with the girl wearing a nurses' uniform?), yeah, no nudity in that scene. And that prison scene was cut, too. There is a bit with dirty magazine pictures, but the girls have lingerie on, and that lasts for maybe 3 seconds or less, and it's non-sexual in nature- the main charrie is looking for the girl in the picture to question her about something her father was involved in before he disappeared.

Again, it's incredibly true to the manga, but they had to cut stuff due to sheer lack of time- you'd probably need another two full-legnth movies to get everything in there.

The doctor's office scene that I'm thinking of is prooobably in the third movie, because I remember it happening fairly late in the manga:
the scene where the short-haired woman whose name I am totally drawing a blank on, but is carrying "Friend's" second child, is leaving the doctor's office.
If it's there at all (and it's not important to show her nude), it's probably not that bad, since half of her body was covered in the manga anyways. But yeah, that was the scene I was referring to. XD

Yep, if that's pertinent, then it's in the third movie- no sign of it in the second!

Does the movie's cinematographic quality rather low budget? I haven't seen the movies, but from the trailers it seems kinda on the lower end of the quality spectrum. But it may have been simply because they were early trailers.

Although some of the shots I'm seeing now (currently on youtube) seem to have some cheap and obvious CGI. I'm guessing it's due to a budget, if anything.

You hit it on the nose- budget does make the special effects look a little cheezy. I haven't seen any bad CGI, but they do use some silly tricks to make it look like people are dying like in the manga, and the robot of doom is less than impressive (but that's where the willing suspension of disbelief comes in). But I'd say that they deserve a break, since the budget for 3 movies based on a manga might not be all that high, and I've seen other Japanese action movies, and they're all a little on the cheezy side, even with a bigger budget. Only in Hollywood will you get effects like.... Hollywood.

But when you're not concentrating on the special effects and they're doing normal story, like when Kenji is taking care of the store and Kanna, or they're doing flashbacks, it's perfectly fine. They take a lot of care to make everything look authentic. And for the insane amount of important characters, they manage to find actors that look just like them, and they do a great job acting, too! I was really surprised.
