flashing XBOX360 DVD drive... please help!!!

flashing XBOX360 DVD drive... please help!!!

as the title said i'm trying to flash my xbox360's dvd drive
if anyone knows of a good guide, program to flash it with,
or just plain has some words of wisdom... let me know.

Flash the DVD drive? What exactly are you trying to accomplish. If you mean install custom firmware, well... There are places online that can teach you how to do that, but flash the DVD drive?

sorry! we tried the methods suggested online... ( and yes i was trying to install CFW...) but the methods they taught us broke the DVD drive.... anyone want a xbox360 for parts???

we had a lite- on drive... and the instructions said to soldier three parts on the drive together, and my dad ACCIDENTALLY melted the power regulator on it. so the DVD drive is shot.

Is it just a basic 5 or 3.3v regulator?
If that is the only damage, then it's possible that your dad could repair it fairly easily.

no, it's the power regulator on the circuit board of the DVD drive...

Yes, that's the one I mean.
Common ones look similar to this:

...but it will probably be a smaller surface mount type.
(sorry if I'm annoying, I get curious)

Oh, and which guide did you use?

no, that wasn't the guide i used, and that isn't the part i mean.... i mean the part that has a dark string of soldier connecting to the board... sorry of i was unclear earlier...
