Cousin

Postby Mangafanatic » Mon Apr 19, 2004 11:55 am

Hey guys,

If you guys wouldn't mind, I'd really appreciate it if you'd all pray for my cousin.

You see, he's 17, a pastor's kid, and a person I love very much. I just found out that he's been drinking and smoking pot. Oh, can't tell you how much it makes me want to cry! His parents are sending him to spent a week or so with my family and some other relatives who live around me and I don't even know how to start. I thought he was saved, but now I'm not really sure. He never told me he was-- I just took it for granted. I should have seen this coming but I didn't. I'm totally dumbfounded.

I've been raised in the same wonderful, Godly environment. We had the same advantages and the same foundation. I have no idea how this happened. I know I probably sound like a broken reacord, but I really feel like one too.

Pray that I'll know what to say to him. I can't imagine one intelligent word coming out of my mouth if God doesn't give it to me. Pray for my cousins salvation and that I'll just know how to love him. That's probably one of the biggest thing he needs right now.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I'll be praying.
"Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
and things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art; to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul."

How is it going on this, Mangafanatic? I will definitely keep praying about it. ^_^

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

My mom says that kids who have teachers or pastors for parents sometimes feel the need to be bad to show that they are independent from their parents, rebel, etc.

Anyway, I'll pray that god gives you the wisdom to help your cousin, and your cousin the wisdom to realise that what he's doing is wrong. And that your cousin will have minimal long-term consequences from smoking pot.

Well, it's going okay. Right now he's staying in my cousin's house-- which is a great thing since he's with a really strong Christian guy his own age. He'll only be here until Thursday so keep praying. Thanks!

WOW! MAJOR DEVELOPMENT!!!! My cousin has decided he'll stay here for close to two months!!! Oh, you have no idea how great this is. You see, most of those things he was getting into were in his work place, and the pressures are there at home with him. But he's going to be here for two months! Two glorious months of coming to my church, and being around us and-- oh, I just think I might "a splode". This is a collosal answer to prayer. Please pray that God will keep moving in this situation, and thanks for all the prayer support thus far. I am sure God has his hand in my cousin's life and this is a crutial time for him. Pray that God gets a hold of his life.
