Kill Zone, PS2's Halo

Postby kaji » Thu Apr 29, 2004 9:51 am

Has any one heard anything about this first person shooter?

Only owning a PS2 makes it hard to be a true Halo fan. This game may be the break I have been waiting for.

From what I know it is being developed by Guerilla Games, at SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe). The screen shots look very nice, I just hope it is as impressive to play as it is to look at.

Here are a couple screen shots I found at TGV.

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

This is the first time I have heard about this game. I'm not a big fan of playing first-person shooters on consoles, but hopefully this will be good (although I doubt it will be a Halo-killer). The screenshots do look impressive, but they are a bit small.

On a related note, you can get Halo for the PC and not be a traitor to the PS2. ;)

Halo on PC... I just wish they'd make a game for the new PC graphics cards that were set up more like "Silent Hill 3" than a FPS... If they did that, I may get back into PC gaming.

But, PS2 could never have a halo killer... Halo is big because of multiplayer, and PS2 has only 2 ports and people don't usually buy peripherals (though Sony's really trying with the HD.) They could compete with Unreal online, maybe. Actually, they allready do that: Socom and Socom 2 allready are Unreal killers, and good competition for counterstrike on PC. I suppose it may win over Halo in the Online area (as soon as Sony's online service shows up, or if it's here, as soon as more people get it... They were working one out with AOL... *shakes head*) but not in it's party merits.

Yeah, I can't say it would be a Halo killer, because Halo 2 is being released about the same time..anyways....the game looks good, but I'd be worried about the framerate.

In my opinion it SUCKS.

3 reasons

Makes me want to vomit - Some airhead had the idea to put "Blur Like" Anti-Aliasing effects on a First Person Shooter. The result. It's giving me Motion Sickness and making me want to vomit. I can only play the game for 2 hours, then I have to put it down.

I could care less - About EVERYTHING in the game. I've rarely played something so... uninspired, cheezy, and unrelated.

No Strategy - yes, that's right, there is 0% strategy in this game, there is 1 path to take, extremely linear. It's almost a side scroller.

Good Idea, No Talent - The levels and environments on Killzone scream potential, but deliver nothing. They are also ALL THE SAME THING over and over. If it weren't for the EXTREME linear gameplay, I'd Get lost. The developement team literally took the same place and copied it over and over (THE DOCK is the worst), there are about 7 docks that are the same over and over. And you keep moving from one to the next. Bland and boring. Chore like, it's horrifing.

Oh wait... that's 4 reasons. Yeah i guess it REALLY does suck waxy Donkey ears.

Horray Volt, you`re the first and only person i`ve ever met who dislikes Halo 2. I`d waste my time with three reasons (or four to you) why i like it but I`ll just say this:

All four reasons are the opposite of what the game really is. If we`re not talking about Halo 2 for the Xbox then just nevermind....

Which it is, but as far as shooting things goes, Halo 2 is really awesome.
Take it like you gave it; what else matters in the end? To be honest, it's all a one-shot test; that leaves plenty of places to go wrong, but how will you ever know? There's a pointer, I will admit. Turn it on, listen to it, feel it burn.
