Could you possibly point out which passage says that homosexuality is considered a sin?
People always seem to think it's the one about Sodom and Gamorah(gomen ne, I can't spell this morning), but they were destroyed for being rude to visitors

Wow... I think we'll have administrators all over this one. Trying to avoid bickering, I think I'll give my attempt to answer the question.

In regard to the destroyed cities, I believe it would be inaccurate to list any one reason they were destroyed. It was for a multitude of sins, not just any one. People looking over the entire issue in Greek generally say you could consider homosexuality among them, but let's not stay on this passage...

Also, you'll find stuff in Leviticus that seems to spell it out exactly. This really isn't as simple as it appears, but is a direct mention of it. But, for that matter, this isn't the real passage either...

The main passage used here is in one of the Pauline letters, but I'm afraid I can't tell you which one. It's the one in which Paul says the Lord handed them over to their sins, unnatural lusts, etc.

Plus, in regard to Jesus, I recently found out an interesting fact. Jesus never mentioned it because homosexuality was actually a very minor issue among the Jews. It was an issue with the Romans, which would be why Paul covers it.

Here's one:

"1 Corinthians 6
8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers.
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. "

There are others, too. The above verse clearly states that homosexuality is a sin anyway.

Also worth noting (as you are Catholic) from the CCC:

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Paul to the rescue!

ROM 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

ROM 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

the catholics are wrong!!!

THEY believe in the prugatory but if purgatory exists why the heck did jesus come to earth and die on the cross?

was it not to clean us of our sins and allow us to enter heaven?

if purgatory exists then what was the purpose of jesus coming to earth
thats the way i see it

First off, what does Catholicism have to do with this thread remotely? And second of all, CAA is officially non-denominational. I could get into all sorts of personal things, but I chose not to. Point being, I'm sure you wouldn't appriciate it very much if your denomination was being attacked, and I ask you show that same respect to our catholic members. And if you don't, you will be asked to leave.

Regardless of your opinion, perhaps it would be better for us not to persue this line of conversation much further, ne? Because I'm not a mod, however, I think I will say something here.

It can be argued that Catholicism is indeed a denomination, but on a much larger level. One could divide Christianity into Protestant and Catholic, but there are subdivisions of each. Many of Protestant, and I suppose Eastern Orthadox counts as Catholic somewhat.

I'm not Technomancer, but I think Catholics do believe in personal relationships with Jesus. For that matter, many wonderful songs on the topic have come from Catholic composers.

Alright this discussion has gone far enough. UC, I thank you for your calm attitude and sticking up for others of a different denomination. Trust me, it did not go unnoticed. ChristianOtaku, I'll be plain, and I've already warned you privately about this before. Either stop this kind of posting, or be banned. That's all there is to it. Now, this topic is being closed, as will every thread that becomes like this.

Well now, one final update on this lovely topic. Christianotaku was banned for good today; as in no second chances, return appearances, nothing. Banned forever.
Why? Apparhently he didnt' seem to learn anything from the first round of reproach, but there was a maddeing reason to his behavior. Get a look at this guys--
HAHAHAHA I cant believe it took you so long, et me present myself i am wesley useche the leader of a forum testing site. We purposly break forum rules to see how long it will take the staff to ban a person. To tell you the truth your one of the nicest forums we tested dont let it stay that way
And goodbye hope to see you again

Yeah, I'm unnerved and more than a little upset at it too guys. But don't worry, one, we won't change the way things are done around here, and two, we won't see him again any time soon.

As I always stress, the main reason for posting this is to keep you guys informed. I want to uphold a system of openness and accountability as far as the leadership is concerned, because you guys--to borrow from Stephen Lawhead--are the sun and stars to me. Never let it be said I did something and failed to inform the most important part of this team other than Christ Himself: you.

Sadly enough, I did kind of expect it. Maybe I'm too much of a hardcore cynic, but I think I can spot a professional troll when I see one.

Hmm. Unexpected this is. And unfortunate. Anyway, I'd rather be accused of giving second chances than being too strict.

Kudos. I think this PROVES (not hinders) that this board walks the line of grace.

Hey Ash, I think you've been decieved yet again by our troll.

I googled "Wesley Useche" yesterday because I wanted to "pay a visit" to his site and forum along with someone else I know.

Anyway, all that came up in Google was a link to some troll postings on a P.O.D. board and a post by his mother to a homeschooling board. In other words, unless he has blocked it or removed it from Google, our troll has no official site or forum.

I'm inclined to agree, particularly because of some private messages we traded. Of course, it's all over now, and I'm going to let it go, but somehow I doubt that he was really just trolling.
