Spiderman news

Sci Fi Wire wrote:Logan Lerman, the 18-year-old actor who stars in the upcoming Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief as a teen who discovers he's the descendant of a Greek god, may soon discover himself to be the next friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

According to Latino Review, Lerman is in talks to be Peter Parker in Sony's Spidey reboot.

"Conversations are starting," said Lerman. "It's a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it's definitely a project that I'm really interested in, of course. I'd love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It'd be such a fun experience."

Lerman also revealed that he's been a longtime Spider-Man fan.

"It's one of my favorite characters ever, and I'm a huge fan of the series," he continued. "I'd love to have more conversations about it. I'm definitely very interested in it."

So what do you think? Does the star of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief have what it takes to bring one of comics' greatest heroes to life?

"I'd love to focus on the human element more"

Spidey 2 did that just fine. Well, with Doc Oc, anyhow.

I'm not optimistic about this. Spidey himself wasn't handled the best, but they may fix Spidey and ruin the villains. Of course, the bar was set absurdly high after Dark Knight... Nolanverse's Two-face has got to be the most interesting character I've ever seen in a comic book movie. As many have said, though, Spiderman isn't supposed to be dark and Gritty. It's supposed to be snappy and witty and human, yes, but not like Dark Knight.

I personally thought Spiderman 2 did a terrible job at focusing on the "human element", but I realize not everyone feels that way.

I'm disappointed at the thought of an 18-year-old playing Spiderman not because he's relatively unknown, but because I'd kind of like to see a more mature Spiderman. Somebody that can be looked up to instead of identified with.

Yeah, well, Sony wasn't really doing anything with that whole "someone to look up to" thing. On the other hand, It's not even been a decade since the first movie's release. Do we seriously need a reboot? Reboot is a fancy word for remake in cases like this. I don't see them doing anything drastic with the story, so it'll just be the same thing over again and the idea of them doing that so soon is kind of bothersome. I know Spiderman is kind of a cash cow, but seriously... You screwed it up. Just live with it.

I agree with Shiroi a mature spider-man would be better. He has got to be more mature yet still have a sense of humor. I would like to see an actor between the ages of 25-35 play spider-man.

Confirmed: New Spider-Man will be 3-D

In case anyone doubted it, Sony confirmed that its proposed reboot of Spider-Man will be in 3-D and will hit theaters on July 3, 2012.

Here's the full announcement:

Sci Fi Wire wrote:Spider-Man will swing into theaters worldwide in 3D beginning July 3, 2012, it was announced today by Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution. The new film which is still untitled, will begin production later this year directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin will produce the film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios.

Commenting on the announcement, Blake said, "Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we're thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D. Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc's fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise."

You know...I saw Avatar in 3D. It was impressive visually and I think the same effects would work in other movies. Spiderman, though, isn't really one of those movies that came to mind when I thought that. So...I'm really not sure about this.

Oh, and if this movie is bad then I'll blame it for the supposed apocalypse that's supposed to happen later in 2012.

Ultimate summer movie-going experience, my foot. They want it out by the summer of 2012? It's going to be a rush job. And THREE-DEE? Sigh.

Just keep the mask on and ADD MORE QUIPS. When Peter Parker puts on that Spider suit his confidence is heightened due to having anonymity. He uses quips to aggravate his enemies for they can start making mistakes. Not to mention that quips are just plan fun to hear.

Logan Lerman was good in 3:10 to Yuma. But I would have to consider this version of Spider-Man the "Ultimate" version, like the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.
