Shouldn't this have been a poll?

My opinion: PS II.

1. Gamecube
Pros: Great graphics, comfortable controller, good amount of unique games, GBA compatible upgrade, and it's $99!
Cons: C-stick on the controllers, Lacks RPGs and online play
2. X-box
Pros: Freakin' awesome controller, built in hard drive, built in modem, strongest of the three, and $179 w/ SW: Clone Wars and Tetris
Cons: 95% of the games are on the PC, the real power of the system isn't used, and lacks games
3. PS2
Pros: RPG rich and alot of games
Cons: weakest of the three, $199, have to purchase hard drive, multi-tap, older version was unreliable, and poorly designed unimproved controller.

-My two cents

$199.00? Where are you buying your PSII? They go for around $139.00 here. As for the HD, I don't have one so I don't care that much.

As for X-Box, I just see M$ trying to force people out of markets and create another monopoly.

But I'm probably biased. :)

$139? What the...?! I was at Bestbuy and Wally-world (Wal-mart) yesterday and the PS2s were $199, but I'm in South Carolina, the tech retarded state. :thumb:

This is generally what MS does, dispite that I still like my XBox.

I doubt they could put Sony out of the game business.

Hopefully Sony will look at what MS did right with the XBox (built-in HD, kick-butt power, even Live is done well) and do this with the next Gen PS machine.

Here we go again. Yes, I think the PS2 has a poor controller, sorry that's my opinion. Anyways, where are you guys getting these prices? Where I live it's $199 with nothing, but a stinkin' controller!

READ THIS!!!

NGC is by far the best. It is original, has the best graphics, and although it is lacking in variety, it has some great titles. It cost the least, is the smallest, and is more family oriented. Long live Gamecube! Mwahahaha!

YES! GCN! For the most part, yes it lacks games, but it has proven to be durable and small. It has Mario, LoZ and Metroid, REALLY great games. Although, it depends on your style.

Then you must not have played Max Payne 1 and 2, Time Splitters 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, XIII(13), Prince of Persia and many other games. Whether it be for changing the camera view or secondary fire, the buttons have some use. I'm not saying every game has a use for those buttons, but there are many that do.

I have a GameCube, and I really like it a lot. All the classic Nintendo franchises are only made for GC, so you can't go wrong there. I only wish it had more RPGs like the PlayStation. A lot of people have mentioned that the PS2 costs more, but remember it also is a DVD player.

Personally I don't like the PlayStation controller either. Maybe its because it has so many buttons, or maybe I'm just used to Nintendo's standard A & B buttons (I've had GameBoys most my life), but I also think the PS2 controller is uncomfortable to hold. And the standard Xbox controller is to big for my small hands! I know they make smaller ones, but I've never tried them. Anyway, Xbox is way out of my price range.

So I'm going to stay patriotic to Nintendo. ^__^ [kinda also wants a PS2, though]

There sure are a lot of threads about favorite consoles, but I've yet to see one with a poll. I think that would be a lot more fun!

My vote is for the PS2, for reasons that I have explained numerous times on other threads.

I don't have any problems with the PS2 controller. On the other hand, I find the Xbox and Gamecube controllers to be somewhat annoying. The oddly shaped buttons on the Xbox controller are stiff, and the placement is a bit too close (not to mention the fact that it is a blatant and inferior rip-off of the Dreamcast controller). As for the Gamecube controller, it also has poor button placement, particularly the little yellow stick (whatever it is called...).

The C-stick. I actually like it, because I'm a camera-angle control freak.

Do the PS2 controllers have rumble features? I was just wondering.

I agree... I remember the SNES controller (which later became the dual shock (PS), after a few changes) and how much I loved it. It was a natural progression from the NES contoller, and it was really easy to use. The Dual shock, and of course the Dual Shock 2, were the final stage of that. It's perfect. All the buttons are exactly at you disposal, and every single one of them are pressure sensative (except maybe start and select) which creates a lot of possibilities. I'm not sure if the cube's buttons are pressure sensative, and I know that on the X-box, there are only 2 pressure sensative buttons.

It's the PS2 all the way for me, but that doesn't mean I still wouldn't buy a cube. I'd never buy an X-box, because it doesn't have many games I'd want, it has a horrible controller, I don't have many friends coming to my house, and I just plain don't like it (I may be on windows, but I don't want to support MS any more than I have to...)

So, yeah... PS2...

I'll try to sort out which one I like the most with this hierarchial chart.

PS2 Pros -- Expansive library of games, DVD compatibility right out of the box along with a smooth feeling controller. Oh and of course, backwards compatible means I can go back and play Xenogears, Final Fantasy VII, VIII, Chrono Cross, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, and Silent Hill.

Cons -- The graphical end merely speaks the weakest voice of the three consoles. Hard-drive is overly priced with not enough GOOD games to warrant a purchase for me. Online service is still up in the air, 56k users toggle down the latency rates.

Xbox Pros -- The BIGGEST graphical bang for the dollar. Xbox Live is broadband only meaning smoother gameplay during online sessions. Incredible games out right now like Splinter Cell: PT, Ninja Gaiden and the always classic Star Wars KOTR. Extra storage space means no extra memory card needed and the ability to store music files, I love having Norma Jean, Audio Adrenaline, Wilco and Pink Floyd to rock to.

Cons -- No DVD out-of-the box, small choice of games. Xbox Live is kinda pricey in itself.

Gamecube Pros -- Nice price that doesn't hurt the wallet, cute size. Lovely exclusive games from the geniuses at Nintendo. Best RGB cable of the three, along with very cheap parts and peripherals.

Cons -- Memory card holds the lowest space of saves, even smaller line-up of games then Xbox. No online functions and a lack of Dolby Digital compatibility hurts. Lastly no extras like DVD player, CD player, backwards compatible. But hey Nintendo wants a game system right ?

Geesh I hit a brick wall, I really don't know which one gets my attention most. I love all of them...oh I'll say it!!!

Xbox, even though as a strictly-based software company they wreak.

Time to clear a few things up...

Zedian wrote:Hard-drive is overly priced with not enough GOOD games to warrant a purchase for me. Online service is still up in the air, 56k users toggle down the latency rates.

The Hard Drive just recently came out, so it is not surprising that it does not yet have wide support. Even so, FFXI is pretty cool.

Online service is not "still up in the air." Many great games already use it, including SOCOM, Return of the King, Champions of Norrath, and FFXI.

You also forgot to mention to the extensive library of excellent games available for the PS2 (not just PS1).

True, I totally honor your opinion. I guess I should've elaborated better on what I meant. I know there are a handful of games already for PS2 that are online compatible. I just said RE Outbreak and FF XI because those are undoubtely in MY opinion the bigger titles. I also personally favor Xbox because there are more games that I have enjoyed online like a superior edition of Rainbow Six 3, Project Gotham Racing 2, Crimson Skies, SNK vs. Capcom, Counterstrike, and Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow.

I also did dislike the fact that I had no way of communicating properly with my fellow gamers in RE Outbreak since there is no keyboard peripheral nor a head-set like Xbox has.

And I guess I didn't mention it, but your right on that account---PS2 DOES have the most expansive library of games. I am going to be honest and say not all of them are any good, quite frankly the amount of GOOD games out of that sea of titles equates pretty much to the Gamecube and Xbox's amounts.

:)
