Suggestions for My 30th Birthday Party

So, my 30th birthday is around the corner (4th of January, goodbye twenties) and I wanted to make it something special, seeing as my 21st was rather lackluster. Problem is I just can't think of anything WOW, that would set it apart from the norm. Any of you guys have any suggestions? I'm currently inviting around 15 or so people.

If I wasn't the only person (well, apart from one other person) who was into Anime, I would have considered it. LOL sounds like you're going to have a cool party :3

Why not have a party with a theme taken from a favorite TV series or film franchise? For example, a friend of mine hosted a party that was themed around her and her friends' (including me) favorite TV series Firefly. People dressed up in a combo of Wild West outfits and Chinese garb, and some even dressed up as one of the characters of the show. Games also were based off the show. It was a lot of fun :).

Thanks guys. So far all the suggestions have been pretty, uh, well, amusing, but I'm still not any closer to having a definite idea.

Another problem is that half my friends live in the town where I currently live, while the other half live in the town I previously stayed in, which is a 90 min drive away.

Well instead you can provide the costumes which means that one of the guys may end up with a pink kimono. Then play sports in them then go to the movies in your cosplay clothes and then whoever gets the most comments about their cosplay outfit wins...
