Mana is from Negima, and is pretty awesome, but I don't seem to recall her ever pulling out a guitar.

Also, riffs.

I just finished Darker than BLACK Ryusei no Gemini episode 8. :'(
Poor, poor Tanya. I was convinced she was going to make a Heel Face Turn, and then BAM! Darker than BLACK reminded me that I was watching it, not Naruto. Still, that makes me really sad. Tanya in my opinion the most interesting new character, and I'm sad to see her go. Poor Suou too. Having to kill her like that. I'm really glad Hei killed that one dude. On a slightly more positive note, the Suou x July pairing I'm now shipping just got a bit of Ship Tease, with them holding hands and all. Kind of reminds me of when Yin held Hei's hand after November 11th killed Havoc. I wonder how this will effect Suou's later actions.

On a much more positive note, Kurasawa and Kiko are back!!! They always managed to work, despite being massively out of place. I wonder if they'll even recognize Hei.

Those jerks at BONES. Bring back two of my favorite characters, only to kill one of them and send the other one off on a boat.
I just finished Baccano!!! It was...amazing. One of the best animes I've seen since Gurren Lagann. It was fantastic. Isaac and Miria, Firo and Ennis, Jaccuzi and Nice,
Czeslaw
, Maiza, Rachel, and even Claire all pull a great ending. Great show, great show.

For the most part, absolutely. No fanservice, sex, nudity and very little objectionable language. The fansubs I watched only had d*** and I think that was only a handful of times. A main character's parents were murdered in front of her, and there are frequent flashbacks to her seeing them after the fact and it is not explicit in the least, but rather bloody. Nothing you wouldn't see on, oh, Case Closed for example. The only other thing is one character that seems to be a girl is revealed to be a boy - the reveal kind of makes it look like he's about to be molested, but the person "attacking" him is just ripping open the boy's shirt to prove that he hasn't been fooled by the ruse. Other than those two points, I can't think of anything.

Well, I decided to see what all this Soul Eater stuff is about and watched the first episode. I liked it, I liked it a lot! I'll have to see how it continues, it could go either way, but besides the numerous chibis, it showed strong potential.

Not exactly anime, but boy did school food punishment's 「light prayer」 PV make me excited for the first Eden of the East movie, which I had honestly forgotten about until I decided to see if sfp had any singles or albums coming up. The most interesting thing I gleaned from the PV was all of the AIR KING art with Akira's pose from the final episode. Noblesse oblige, please continue being an awesome band.

I'm about to rewatch episode 1 of Soul Eater, because I want to watch more, but I also want it dubbed and I've seen all the episodes that have been released dubbed. Yes, I've become a dork for Soul Eater.

So I lost out to impatience and people not shutting about how awesome it was, so I decided to watch a low quality raw floating around of Summer Wars.

HOLY CRAP THIS MOVIE.

First off, I think this movie was made for me. Shy guy who saves the day using math (modular arithmetic!)? Awesome (OZ is much cooler than our current closest comparison, Second Life) and hilarious (LOLOLOL at the DSes) depiction of our computing experience in the near future?

I really liked the family. I was happy to see that this wasn't one of those really hardcore powerful families. The members were made up of all types: housewives, civil servants, tons of kids, and others. At the same time, the grandmother acting as the matriarch of the family was a fantastic character. She was wise, she was powerful (she has a ton of connections), and she was familial (her family was clearly the most important thing to her).

Typically, I enjoy TV series a lot more than movies because I feel like TV series have a lot more time to develop their characters and weave some interesting plots. This movie was the counterexample. After each major plot point, I glanced at the timeline on my video player and was surprised that there was still more. It's amazing how much the movie went through in the space of two hours.

Oh, I haven't mentioned the art yet. So for much of the movie, the style is very similar to that of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Makes sense: same studio (Madhouse) and same director. Where the movie becomes even more of a visual spectacle is in the OZ scenes. That there is some eye candy.

I am going to say that this might be the best thing I've seen this year. We'll see next week after Kara no Kyoukai 7. I am so looking forward to watching this again when the BRDs hit.

Bakemonogatari episode 7-10
FLCL episode 1
Shin Mazinger Z episode 1
Time of Eve episode 6 COMPLETED
Umineko no Naku Koro ni episodes 23

Also, CENCOROLL, whose trailer is filled with half-truths, but is enjoyable nonetheless.

And whoever is shuffling those / Red / Black / cards in Bakemonogatari needs to be fired.

I'd posted this on another forum:
I'd always thought those text cards were just SHAFT being SHAFT. I didn't expect them to ACTUALLY be placeholders (other than in episode 10) because they couldn't finish.

Why do I say this? Apparently, the Blu-ray versions are MASSIVE improvements with less VOICE/LINE and actual scenes and animation.

Also, about episode 10 in particular: apparently, at the time, SHAFT was really, really understaffed, to the point that they were killing themselves from overwork and finishing episodes mere hours before airing. You can tell, because they mention this in the Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei title cards that flash in the same few weeks. The result is an episode that people have compared to Anno and Evangelion episode 26.
