I'm in Japan now...

Postby Kankokujin » Wed Nov 18, 2009 7:51 am

Hey guys! It's been a long time for me since I was here. How's everyone doing? Sorry I've been gone for so long without a word. Things got busy and I lost track. If that's even an excuse.

Anyway, if you can pray for me, I appreciate it. I'm in Japan now and I'm sure most of you guys may be like "What?! I envy you!" but I've actually been struggling in a lot of ways.

Most important of all, I need you guys to pray for me so that I can understand why God has brought me here. It was exciting to be here during the first month or so (since September) and then things started to feel empty and repetitive. I wonder if I've been letting sin and my own selfish motives get in the way of my spiritual life. I mean, you know how it is. Coming here to the land of anime's birthplace, you'd think you'd meet interesting people and be able to go to fun places. I don't know what I was expecting. I guess I thought I'd see people cosplaying all over the place. Kinda silly huh?

Honestly, I don't know where I'm going with this. It's been tough trying to find the places I've wanted to visit and there's temptation to buy so many things (especially clothes) with money that I didn't even earn.

I found a church but I don't know if it's right for me yet either. It's a Korean church and although I do speak Korean, it's hard to keep up when it comes to understanding words during sermons and bible studies. They also seem way too pushy about me staying in there church. I know that church hopping isn't good but I just want to be able to look around for a bit you know? See what my options are.

Well, I wish I could say more but it's long enough as it is. I appreciate everyone who was willing to stick through it up to now. If anyone can pray for me or give me advice, I appreciate it. Hopefully, I can be of some help to you guys from now on too.

Perhaps you will find out the reason for being there not at the very moment, but when you look back at the cumulative events that may have occurred. =)

Are you Korean too? Anyway, yea I should have mentioned why I came here in the first place. LOL! I'm here on a study abroad program as I am a Japanese language major. Now that you mention it, I don't even know what I can do with it after I graduate.

They do... You just have to find the right jobs, and, well... BE REALLY FAST with your language ability in both English and Japanese. (or whatever two languages you're translating between.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

Yea. That is my plan. Getting that kind of job for an anime company is a plus but I think they tend to outsource.

Please continue to pray for me if you can. I'm thinking over two churches right now. I found another church and so I'm currently attending one right after another. I'll admit that the second is more appealing right now but I just want to make sure I don't pick a church with the wrong motives. The people there just seem more interesting and lively and there are a lot of other American students.

It's a difficult situation. In the Korean church, this one guy has been helping me a lot since I'm still having trouble learning what's what here but I feel like he's too pushy about having me stay at this church and honestly, it's kind of creepy how he always wants to meet me when I'm free. I'm sure he means no harm but still. I told him I was going to try visiting other churches and he talked to me about how disappointed he was especially after all he's done. So it's a very difficult situation.

I don't know if I'm right but I think Japan is a country where small numbers of Christians live. Right?. With that, maybe GOD engineered you to introduce Christianity in there. Just continue seeking Him and listening to His voice.

If you have been currently eaten by lots of temptations, just fight and then let them choke you.. hehe..

..and about that Korean guy, hmmp.. just don't think too much of how he pushes you to stay at their church. The important thing is he's helping you to make your spirit grow again. And if he had told you that he was disappointed about your decision, it doesn't really mean that he's mad at you or what. It's just maybe a "mere human reaction". Just gain some strength to tell Him about your side. Be honest! Be bold and courageous! Be yourself!

Godbless!
