First lesson: "Japanese" (the language) is "nihongo" in romanji. No two n's. This is quite important to know since double consonants and double vowels are pronounced quite differently in Japanese than they are in English.

Also, Japanese is a hard language just to teach or learn through typing. It has to involve hearing someone speaking and pronouncing it (natively, preferably, but a native Japanese teacher is not always required). Therefore, I encourage you to look for opportunities to take a Japanese class if you can find one near you (in high school, college, or else where). Otherwise, this Japanese help thread may offer you some help: https://www.christiananime.net/showthread.php?t=46834

Although, now that I think about it, it may be nice to just have a beginning Japanese thread for people who know nothing about Japanese besides what they sort of hear on subbed anime (which is not always the Japanese that is spoken in everyday life, in fact, it rarely is, since anime uses a lot of informal speech). Although, finding a qualified person to help out in that thread would be hard. I can think of maybe two people on here, though. I'll have to see.

And, I know nothing about integral calculus. XD I wish you luck on that though.

I'm currently trying to learn this language as well. I got a couple books on it, and it shows you how to pronounce it, which is very helpful. Also, the structure of their sentences is usually subject-object-verb, instead of subject-verb-object. Their writing consists of 3 types; Kanji, Hirigana, and Katakana.

If you'd like to know the name of the books I am reading, let me know. They are very useful. ^_^

"Speak Japanese Today!" and I also have a really good Japanese phrase book by LonelyPlanet. And a Webster's Japanese dictionary. I already know how to say "I'm a Christian, I believe in God" in Japanese ^_^

I'm not learning it because of anime, either (I like my anime dubbed, I'm sorry....sometimes I'll watch the subbed version, nothing wrong with both, right?). I just think they have a beautiful language! Plus I have a mission of reaching Japan someday! ^_^

Japanesepod101.com and yesjapan.com are great websites to learn Japanese. They are very well-made and will teach you to a pretty decent level.

If you have a little more money available, japonin.com is another great site with certified native Japanese teachers.

If you're using a book, "Japanese for Busy People" and "Minna no Nihongo" are great books that will teach you to a higher level.

Remembering the Kanji by James Heisig is the most well-made kanji book ever made. I can guarantee if you use that book, you will learn all 2,000 jouyou kanji. I am already at about 540 on a very lazy study schedule.

Anki (Google it) is a great vocabulary review program, as well as smart.fm. Read the explanation on the Anki site for why it is so great. I have learned almost 1,500 words with Anki's help.

There isn't anything good that is free (I have been looking for about five years), so forget the idea of learning Japanese for nothing. You're going to have to pay something.
