Finished GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class, which wraps up my shows from summer. There's not too much different from what I've said about it already, which is basically that this is Hidamari Sketch with a lot more focus on the technical aspects of art and school instead of the living together aspects of the Hidamari apartments. Still, it's an excellent slice of life watch and along with Taishou Yakyuu Musume, it's the type of show that I'd rather see coming out of the genre than, say, K-ON!.

I'm actually rather surprised at the Mature rating it had. The story certainly did suck me in, and I REALLY felt for so many of the characters - Kamui and Subaru, especially - that I really enjoyed it. A little more yaoi...undercurrents than I usually care for, but since it was all subtext, it was left open to other interpretations, too, so it didn't ruin it for me. And some of the spiritual elements were a bit uncomfortable - the onmyouji powers are quite occultic, and they aren't only used by the "bad guys" - so definitely not for more sensitive viewers.

Tsubaru's backstory is very tragic and touching, you can learn more of it reading the manga Tokyo Babylon.

I plan on doing that as soon as I can get my hands on it. :) I actually just watched the Tokyo Babylon OVA's last night, but they were just stand alone stories, and didn't tell me much of anything that I didn't know about the characters already.

I'm watching Trigun with my mom. Um...I'm not sure how many episodes we've watched in the past week, but we last watched Episode 6.

So, we've got some OVAs to watch in here, both for series who are gearing up for a third season.

First up is the first Hidamari Sketch x365 special. Two x365 specials are airing this season. You're probably aware that I love me some wideface and that the best news from a few months ago was that Hidamari Sketch was getting another season, likely next year. There's not much to say about this special other than that there are two characters we've never seen before that we get a glimpse of. I wonder who they could be. Hint: they were seen coming out of the entrance exams. So this has made me all fired up for the next season.

And second is Shakugan no Shana S. I like Shana. I'd like Shana more if they stuck closer to the light novels, which I hear are excellent. Instead, we got an abysmal second season, the consequences of which will likely carry on to the third and final season. But for now, we get side stories in the form of Shana S. The first episode seems to be greasing the wheels with a light body-switching hijinks episode. It was pretty hilarious seeing assertive Yuuji and dere-dere Shana. Not bad for an extra episode and certainly better than much of Shana Second.

I'm about to begin a marathon of FMA today, since I have the house all to myself.

Edit: I just remembered that Darker than Black:Ryuusei no Gemini episode 3 came out today, so I'm going to watch it first.

I just finished Neon Genesis Evangelion episode 6, and I'm starting episode 7.

I couldn't resist, as it's considered the other masterpiece of the people who made Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I knew it was supposed to be depressing, but to be honest, so far it's less than I expected. Either way, it's really good, and the end of the last episode with Rei and Shinji was beautiful.

If it makes you feel better, when I was super obsessed with Naruto because I hadn't found other anime, I watched all of it. If you're shrugging because Sailor Moon is longer than the original Naruto, I watched it three times over three months. I wasn't too social at that point of my life.

Watched Big O, episode 8. This one felt a bit lighter, and yet more dramatic and violent than the ones before it. Seeing how episodic this series is thus far, it probably doesn't reflect anything about what's coming next.

Rewatching Cardcaptor Sakura, which is quite the experience after following Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles for so long. I'd forgotten what a sullen, jealous, confused little boy CCS Syaoran started out to be, for example...in TRC he's so perfect it'd be nauseating except that he's so likeable, you can't hold his perfection against him. lol. At least, I can't.

You are in for an awesome ride. NGE might be all the controversial it's regarded to be. It is still awesome and without a doubt one of the most important and relevant anime ever created. Few series have had such an impact in this subculture.

As for myself I am rewatching the masterpiece that is Wolf's Rain. Just finished episode 13 which is a marvel of character development. Excellent writing. Also, Blue has always been in the top of my "most beautiful anime girls" list, which is important considering that she's totally different from the token stereotype of gorgeous anime female. (No light-coloured and/or long hair, huge secondary reproductive attributes, childish face, etc.)

I'm just about to start episode 11 of NGE.

I'm glad it's so great, Asuka seems more likeable than everyone seems to say about her. The "This suit makes me look terrible!" thing was a bit annoying, but other than that she is fairly likable. Maybe that's just because I have a thing for her and Rei in their plugsuits;).

Are the Rebuild movies any good?
