Dude Monster is on Syfy now? I heard that it was being brought to America but that's it. That's pretty awesome!

I finished Baccano! yesterday. At first I wasn't as impressed with it, since I had very high expectations, but then from about the episode where you
find out who Rail Tracer is
something just clicked and the show is becoming more and more awesome the more I think about it.

I can't wait for a second viewing, since it will be easier to recognize all the pieces. XD I think after a second viewing this will sky-rocket into my top ten. I'm also interested in the light novels since it seems the story carries on past the anime events.

So I think I've solidified this season's watchlist.

11eyes and Fairy Tail have been preemptively dropped due to reports of QUALITY. Letter Bee's getting passed over because I'm not sure I want to commit to what might end up being another neverending Jump adventure. Trapeze dropped because it looks insane. Natsu no Arashi dropped since I don't really care about it that much. And Nyan Koi is getting dropped because I'm not feeling the need for that type of show this season. Seitokai no Ichizon dropped because I feel like it's a parody/reference show with none of the subtlety (which I disliked parts of Lucky Star for).

Which means I'm left with:

A Certain Scientific Railgun, which could go the way of Index and end up being terrible, but so far it's been entertaining enough that it's forgivable. We'll see just how much more interesting Misaka is than Touma or Index.

The Sacred Blacksmith is still a huge unknown and I've heard that its second episode did very little to keep people around. Still, it's only 12 episodes, so unless it turns really sour, I'll probably stick with it.

Kobato is pretty d'awwwwww, as long as you don't mind that Kobato is the clumsy and is a magical girl who is oblivious to how the world works. I can see how some of the encounters that'll happen in the show will turn out to be really good. Also MAAYA SAKAMOTO AND MEGUMI NAKAJIMA SONGS AMGAMGAMG.

Kimi ni Todoke is the show that I've been looking forward to this season. That's right, it's not Darker than Black. Of the available chapters of the manga I've read, I feel like it has the potential to become one of my favourite shoujo series. It might not be able to beat Kare Kano (my current favourite shoujo series) just yet, but it's easily in second. And so, it shouldn't be any surprise that I am enjoying this so much. Voices are great, and while I'm still not a huge fan of Noto Mamiko's particular voice for this character given the amount of talking she's done, it's become reasonably bearable. This is the show I look forward to every week (last season's was Bakemonogatari (did you see how I tried to slip Bakemonogatari into the conversation there? You should watch it.)).

Darker than BLACK was pretty cool. I liked the 2-episode episodic structure of the first season, which it seems that they've dropped for this season. Still, this one's a no-brainer if you enjoyed the first season, although it is still a mystery what role the new (and old, I guess) characters will be playing. However, I do feel that this isn't going to be the last season of Darker than BLACK that we're going to get, given the 1-cour run it's getting.

Hidamari Sketch x365 returns for two TV specials this month before the third season airs in a future season! I am always ready for some more WASSHOI WASSHOI-SHOI ( X '______________' )

Basically, a lot fewer shows this season, which is nice since I need to do something productive with my time over the next few months. Then again, that just means I have more to look forward to in winter (Nodame Cantabile Finale, Sora no Woto, Durarara!!, and maybe Katanagatari? Hidamari Sketch ×☆☆☆? Dance in the Vampire Bund?)

That would basically be impossible.
It runs in a monthly anthology with only like 8 volumes released. At most, it can't be any longer than Claymore was.

I am somewhat puzzled at the weaker animation quality in Fairy Tail's first episode, given that this is A1 Pictures and Satelight we are talking about.

Hmm, I'll have to reconsider Letter Bee yet again in that case. I have heard a lot of wonderful things about it. If a show gets compared to Natsume Yuujinchou, it can't be terrible, right?

And yes, Fairy Tail is super surprising. I was expecting much, much better from these two pretty solid studios. On top of that was the fact that based on what I've read and watching the OP have given me no reason to check this out.

Finished the first arc of Sailor Stars and I'm now on the second and longer arc. I don't know if I'm mostly feeling happy that I'll finally get to see how it all turns out soon, or sad that I'm getting extremely close to the ending...

I just finished Darker than Black: Ryusei no Gemini episode 1, and it was pretty good.
I'm really annoyed that they killed off April now though, I feel sorry for poor July. And what the heck is up with Hei just killing Suoh's dad and April?! What happened to him being the contractor with morals?
Still, I have faith that Bones will do well, and hopefully I won't have to pretend this didn't happen Conquerer of Shamballa style.

The new contractors are awesome. Their payments are pretty hilarious. Nice to see Hei back in character.

Edit:Funi's video player is being stupid, so I'm going to wacth Darker than Black:Ryusei no Gemini episode 2.

Bakemonogatari episodes 3-4
Samurai 7 episodes 11-16
Umineko no Naku Koro ni episode 15-16

Samurai 7 has just been one big bag of disappointment. Episode 16 in particular. If it wasn't for the fact that Kikuchiyo is literally made of awesome I might have turned a blind eye by this point.

Finished X 1999, which I never anticipated watching, since I'd heard it was CLAMP's most violent and offensive work to date...and either the manga is FAR more explicit, or watching Baccano! has de-sensitized me...because this didn't seem anywhere near as over the top violent as I was expecting it to be. I'm actually rather surprised at the Mature rating it had. The story certainly did suck me in, and I REALLY felt for so many of the characters - Kamui and Subaru, especially - that I really enjoyed it. A little more yaoi...undercurrents than I usually care for, but since it was all subtext, it was left open to other interpretations, too, so it didn't ruin it for me. And some of the spiritual elements were a bit uncomfortable - the onmyouji powers are quite occultic, and they aren't only used by the "bad guys" - so definitely not for more sensitive viewers.
