I found this AMV which I originally saw at Animazement 2009. It is really good. It's from Shinkai's 5 Centimeter's per Second.

Here it is.

The best AMV I've seen was one with Macross and "Dogfight" by move.

They've taken it off youtube though. If you're really interested, you can download it here.

Well, as long as we're talking about the best AMVs ever, the best one I've seen is this one: Noir - Die Another Day

Just asking, is it legal to use footage to an anime that you don't own? Now that I see these, I feel intrested in making some myself.

I love making AMV's. I don't have the top-of-the-line software it takes to make super-cutting-edge AMV's, but I'm able to do pretty well with what I have. I'm learning more and more that, as cool as it is to have awesome software, creativity and perseverance are far more important. So far I've made AMV's of Teen Titans, Shining Tears, Fantastic Children, Ever 17, Invader Zim, Kodocha, and Death Note... Wow... I must be bipolar. @_@

Hmm, I don't know why I didn't see this thread earlier. Even though I've never see 5 Centimeter's per Second, the video was very pretty and bittersweet.

I watch a lot of AMVs and it's only occasionally there's a good one like this. I think there was a sweet Ouran one made a bit ago. >_>

Mmm... I still think the best one I've seen was this Neon Genesis one synced to Nightwish's Dead Boy's Poem.

I'm still really fond of the Codemonkey AMV myself, but it's also the only one I've watched in the last several years. XD

Speaking of Nightwish, I still think this is one of, if not the best AMVs I've seen.

Gundam 08 MS Team - Tenth Man Down

I would like the 5 Centimeters per Second one but I rly don't care for that song. It's awesome, I'll admit, but no likey the song.

I suddenly feel compelled to list some of my favorite AMV's. ^-^ Be warned, though, almost all of them have major spoilers.

This is one of the most impressive AMV's I've ever seen (and it's even a Christian song! ^-^):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMtbplem4Hs

This one is a Gunslinger Girl AMV made by my sister:

This is a really cool Angelic Layer AMV:

This is a really romantic Cardcaptor Sakura AMV:

Here's a really surreal Princess Tutu AMV:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyJ2FAAqdH4

And here's an AWESOME Superchick AMV with a bunch of different anime (there's a couple nudity parts, though):

One of the, if not the best AMV I've ever seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHZqxecCukg&feature=related

The timing is incredible and as far as I remember there are no effects, that can sometimes ruin an AMV if not properly used. That said, this AMV is also one of my favourites and had quite a number of effects; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwxiLjiA3fc (the quality isn't great).

Small world! I've actually seen both of those before! ^-^ I was always really impressed with that Princess Tutu AMV for how good it was with almost no effects. It helped me realize how much more important it is to utilize timing and clip choice than effects. I love effects, myself, but they do nothing without their less flashy sister tactics.

Oooh! I especially loved the Princess Tutu AMV. The fact that the song is in Swedish is a plus, too...lol.

Here's one for Ouran that I love:

And this is for one of my favorite DNAngel characters: Satoshi Hiwatari. Fits him SO well.

Very good AMV, but... I don't care for the song. I never really liked Thousand Mile Wish, but it did fit the video really well, overall, I love the video and I think I'll watch the anime at some point.

I did see a video for Blood+ with the song "From December" by Project 86, (one of my favorite songs) that was pretty well done, it was pretty bloody though. I can't really think of the best AMV I've ever seen right now. (I did see an incomplete anime-mix AMV to the song "Thorns" by Demon Hunter that was pretty good though.)
