Ah, I get it now! *enlightened look*
Don't hate him. But he irritates the heck out of me. What's sad is that I think if he loosened up a bit, he and Simon would make a great team - their personalities could really complement one another if Rossiu would stop being quite so uptight.
Anyway, yes, just watched episode 17. Things seem quite tense to me, and no, I'm not just talking about the battle at the end of the episode...
What happened to Nia is very D: and the anti-spirals are all scary and stuff, but I'm also just as interested and D: about the conflict between Rossiu and Simon. Also Viral.
Gurren Lagann is back to amazingness!! Yay!!
Just finished episode 24 and :O
The deaths of all the Team Gurren members were really sad. Which is saying something, since I recognized their face but I couldn't remember their names. I really hope Kiitan survives. Really hope.
That said, even if he doesn't, I have faith that the ending will be awesome.

I finished Bōnen no Zamudo or Xam'd: Lost Memories yesterday. A friend of mine who saw it first said he didn't like the ending, but I quite liked it, although the final antagonist was kind of boring.

Asura Cryin' episodes 1-4
Pretty visuals, but remarkably, this show isn't making a whole lot of sense or actually bothering to explain much of anything. The main character has a ghost girl following him around, and we don't actually get any back-story on this? I feel like I missed something somewhere.

Natsu no Arashi episodes 1-3
From the School Rumble creator.
The time-travel and World War 2 elements provide unique twists in this although I've always been pretty iffy on Studio Shaft productions and their weird/surreal animation style.

I'm undecided on whether I want to continue with either, but I was in the mood for watching something new recently, and they both have upcoming continuations so...

Well, I watched the first 5 episodes of Cowboy Bebop. And so far...I'm a bit underwhelmed. Maybe it just couldn't live up to all the hype? However, there were moments of greatness in the 5th episode, so I am not giving up on it yet. We shall see...

I'm also pondering beginning Inuyasha. I never wanted to before, since I knew that it ended on a cliffhanger - which kills me - but since they are now going to actually finish it, I'm feeling more confident about looking into it.

Galaxy Express 999, subbed. I wanted to pick up a series similar to the original Gundam, an "oldie" I guess is what you'd call it. So far, it looks pretty awesome.

I would be watching Space Pirate Captain Harlock on Funi's site, but they're having issues and their player sucks. I rly wanna see Harlock. Pirates in SPAAAAACE. That and Harlock is GAR.

Wyntre Rose, good luck watching liek, 173343536 episodes of filler when it comes to Inuyaha.

FMA: Brotherhood episodes 20-21. Finally caught up! This is some of my favorite stuff from the manga, so I'm enjoying myself thoroughly.

Haibane Renmei episodes 11-13. I got the fourth DVD for a pretty good price, so I decided to watch it. Ah, what a lovely anime.

 Yeah, I know. I wonder if anyone has ever made a list of the episodes that actually are relevant to the plot, so someone that doesn't want to wade through all the filler could just watch those? Hmmmm...I'll have to do some research, methinks.

Trust me, when I first watched the first few episodes I felt the same way. But then I went and watched episode six(one of my favorites) and kept going. By 12 you won't want to stop watching. It gets immensely awesome. Sympathy for the Devil and Black Dog Serenade are the best episodes until the finale. Be warned, the finale may make you explode with over exposure to sheer awesome.

I finally got around to watching some of Last Exile last night (first 5 episodes) S'alright, if not especially original AT ALL. I'm a little startled at how the production values can be so good and so bad at the same time (that's some embarrassingly bad CG smoke)

W-w-wowww.... o___o;;

I just finished TTGL, guys. MY MIND IS BLOWN.

My general thoughts during most of the last episode were, "I have no idea what just happened BUT IT WAS AWESOME."
And then Nia died and I was all dsfgfddsaf ;_;

Also in the next-to-last episode: when everyone's trapped in that imaginary space... I started crying a lot when real!Kamina appeared to Simon, even harder when it was Yoko, and just when I was calming down again, lost it when I saw what Viral's fantasy was. T__T
Overall, a very fitting and epic end for a very epic series. <33333 So, so good.

also @Hat'n'Clogs, dude, that's my next series too o-O;; I started it at the same time as I started TTGL, except that TTGL suddenly consumed my life and thus got finished first. :P FREAKY

All the lights in the skies are stars.

So, I watched the Nodame Cantabile OAD. Not much going on, just an episode focused on Matsuda. And the long wait for the final season (Winter 2010!) continues.

I have to say that Inuyasha's fillers are quite watchable with a few exceptions that are gutwrenching bad. Most fillers are used for good character development of for building of Inuyasha's universe. They include most of the really scary episodes of the series. The one that jumps to mind is the one of the vengeful ghost of a child that nearly becomes the first child to be sent to hell. One of my favourite episodes of the series and has nothing to do with the overarching plot.

This. Except that I'll politely disagree and say that ep 18, "Speak Like a Children" is the best non-finale episode. "Sympathy for the Devil" is indeed great, though. (By the way, CB is one of the few series which episodes are more universally known by their names rather than by their episode number.) But that's part of Cowboy Bebop and most character-driven (as opposed to plot-driven) stories' beauty: each episode is such a self-contained and differentiated experience appealing to different tastes. It's almost like watching a short movie each time.

So the Nadeko Snake arc is over and it's time for me to talk about how great Bakemonogatari is. That is, unless it wasn't obvious from episode 10 that they are horribly understaffed and seem to be running into budget issues. That's probably been the most disappointing episode, because the action scene wasn't animated, it was the conclusion to the arc, and it was a lot shorter than the previous two arcs.

I know a lot of people talk about animation when they actually mean art. The art in Bakemonogatari is fine. I'm talking about actually making pictures move. It's been compared to slide shows and picture books. Usually, this is okay, since Bakemonogatari is focused heavily on dialogue, but when there's an action scene in that episode, it becomes very noticeable.

I sure hope this is a one-off thing, because they've got five more episodes to do.

OTHER STUFF:

The subbers finally released another bunch of GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class episodes and they continue to be fantastic. Usually, in stuff like Sketchbook or Hidamari Sketch, the fact that they go to art school is touched upon occasionally and the art isn't too technical. They'll be drawing and sculpting and stuff, but they don't really go into details. GA, on the other hand builds its jokes on technical art stuff. Rule of thirds? Yes. Why people don't use black poster paint? Yes. Composition? Yes. Colour palette books? Yes.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 has been spectacular the last few episodes because of unexpected twists.

More people need to watch Spice and Wolf.

Umineko just finished its second arc. Come join us in the Umineko thread where we are constantly awed and disturbed by Beatrice's shenanigans on Rokkenjima and pitch in your theories in an attempt to deny the witch.

Finished Cowboy Bebop. :wow!: Glad I stuck with it. I think the episodes that showed hints of the pasts of the crew members were the most gripping to me, personally. Which explains why Ballad of Fallen Angels made me keep going. Gren's reveal in Jupiter Jazz nearly made me give it up altogether (if you've seen it, you know exactly what I'm talking about, if not I won't spoil it for you) until I realized what it really was, and now that story arc is one of my favorites. The ending was pretty mind blowing, and honestly, it left me with a lot of questions, but somehow I don't want to know the answers. Which is VERY unusual for me. I usually like loose ends neatly tied up by the end of a series/movie. I guess it's just part of the experience.

All in all, a very good series. I can see now why so many people say it's the best anime out there. I dunno if you can really say I've been "converted" or not Maokun - it's not my all time favorite anime or anything - but I did enjoy the ride. ;)
