Old Rev. Doc Has A Prayer Request

Postby Rev. Doc » Tue Apr 20, 2004 11:05 am

First off, no one really needs to reply to this. I know what a great group of prayer warriors we have here at CAA so I know you will lift us up.

Our family got a little bit back from Uncle Sam this year (first time in about 6 years). Some of you may know that I grew up on the west coast (Born in California and spent my teen years in Oregon). I now reside in South Carolina but all my family is still out west. I got a call from my sister the other day. My mother who had heart by-pass surgery a couple years ago is not doing too well. She evidently fell recently and sis is afraid she sees the onset of Alzheimer's. Of course the hardest part of ministry is being away like this. Anyway, even though we got some money back on taxes this year it's not a whole lot. I'm trying to use Priceline and other on line means to get the amounts down to fly my family of 4 out for a couple weeks. So far I've not had much luck. I'll keep trying for the next week or so. We really need to make this trip sometime around May 3rd through the 17th. I would appreciate your prayers that the Lord will help us to work this out.

The trip of course would be somewhat bittersweet. It has been 12 years since we were able to make a trip like this. Therefore, I realize that this will most likely be the last time I will be able to see some of my family this side of glory.

Thanks gang for being there for one another.

Well, unfortunately things don't appear to be going in the right direction. Yesterday price listings on Priceline, Orbitz, and Expedia all ran at $233.00 each. Today they are listing for $394.00 each. Looks like we may just have to put things off for awhile. But you never know what the Lord might do so thanks for those prayers.

I'll be praying. And as you said "But you never know what the Lord might do..."

I can't say I have anything that might be useful but I do use SideStep. I haven't a clue if the prices might be better or not. But all the same.

Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
and things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art; to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul."

I'll pray for ya, Rev Doc...

It'll work out in the end. God's sure to find a way :)

Maybe look around at the travel agencies in the area. Sometimes they've got offers the Internet doesn't.

I will definitely be praying for you, Rev.doc. ^_^ How are things going with this anyway?

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Unfortunately, not very well. I have continued to make bids every few days, but so far no takers. I will continue to do so up until just before the point when we have to make the trip (around May 4th). If we can't do it by then chances are it will be almost impossible to get out there. Summer activities will begin soon at church and our daughter will be going to public school in early August. There may be a possible early July window that we could go in, but usually airline prices go up in the summer so that time would be kind of doubtful. We will just continue to trust the Lord with this. Again, thank you all for your prayers.

Hi gang.

Just want to update everyone on this prayer request. My wife and I decided to take a step of faith and go ahead and purchase airline tickets through priceline for a trip to Oregon to visit my mother. It was a little more than we anticipated spending (with car rental for 10 days, food while traveling and other expenses). But we are trusting the Lord to supply everything we need. Pray for us we fly May 15th. We will be flying back on May 25th. Then I will be working at Animazement May 28-30. Since there is no computer at my parents I will be unable to check in May 15-30 so I will miss everyone, but please know my prayers are always with you. And again, thank you for praying for this request.
