Yeah, the show is one of the few Gainax shows I actually liked. I'm not a big Gainax fan.
*Awaits onslaught of wet noodles from rabid FLCL and Eva fans.*
Today one of my friends was feeling down and unconfident. I told him not to believe in himself, but to believe in me who believed in him. He responding with a smiley emoticon.
It was the best thing ever.

It left me dazed and confused. To me, it looks like FLCL and Eureka Seven chucked in a blender and put on Frappe. Maybe if the library starts getting the DVD's, I'll get into it, but for the time being, it goes on my "meh" list.
I really like Gurren Lagann. It's definitely one of the better mech animes I've seen. I love how the action was so over the top and acid induced.
the second half is my favorite for sure its epicTengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is probably the perfect "Predictable" show. Right off the bat they show you we end up in space somehow, then feeds off that growing expectation of getting there. The real treat when they reach the Spiral King in episode 15 isn't the battle (though consequently episode 15 is my favorite), but the dawning realization that we're not even off the planet yet. There has to be something more, and more there is, leading to a much stronger second half of the series.
Now only if ______ had survived. *Fist shake.*

Kamina is such a great, dynamic character. His over-the-top style reminds me of Gai Daigoji from Martian Successor Nadesico.
The interesting thing about Kamina is that from the first episode, it seems like he'll be the one with the most character development, making him the "main" character. But instead, he somehow seems to take a backseat to Simon. This is a good move on the part of the writers, because as likeable as Kamina is, if he were the "main" character throughout the series, he'd probably get kind of annoying. But his personality is balanced out by Simon's more meek and insecure manner, with Simon himself brought to the foreground despite his comparative lack of "stage presence".
Yoko is . . . well, is Yoko. She's somewhere between the two male characters, with a very strong presence of her own, like Revy from Black Lagoon. She brings together the unit as a whole, making them a strong group, easy to get behind and cheer for.
So far, Gurren Lagann is definitely one of the best action anime I've seen in a while.
Aside from the fan service, I love this anime. It starts out great, gets better, and better, and bigger and.....well, the last couple of episodes are just completely awesome as far as anime goes. I really need to finish it with my room mate.

I actually didn't find Gurren Lagann that perverted. The fanservice never went into the realm of animes like School Days.
I loved how the unique style of the mechs in Gurren Lagann. They actually looked a bit different from your run of the mill mechs.
