Prayer Request for Self Discipline and Community

Postby Debitt » Tue Jul 21, 2009 1:08 am

I've been very hesitant to click the "post new thread" button in this sub-forum for a long time now for fear of seeming selfish, but I realized today that it would be good for me to do. So here we go.

After spending a year in Japan, I've found myself very separated from any form of Christian community that has previously been in my life. Anxiety problems and a healthy dose of selfishness prevented me from seeking a church out not only when I was in Japan, but for a good part of my college career as well. After mostly getting my anxiety problems to manageable levels and coming back to the states, I guess I was just struck with an intense need to find a Christian community that I could interact with on a regular basis. Before last year, I had a group at college, and a close-knit group of wonderful Christian friends here in California -- now most of the people in my college group have graduated, and my Californian friends are frequently busy or away at internships in other states.

So I guess what I need prayer for is two-fold:

1) First, prayer that I'll be more willing to seek out a good community for myself, not only when I feel like I "need it", but all the time. I don't want to give in to my laziness or to my anxiety problems, especially when God has been working to push me away from those things.

2) Prayer that once I start taking initiative, that I'll be able to find a good church or group to attend regularly!

It's not selfish. I haven't belonged to a church in a while, and I am still looking for one. I will pray that you will be able to find a good community & church that you will be able to attend regularly.

In Jesus' name,
Amen

Hello there! I'm back after a long break! I started watching anime again in 2016. I still check the forum too!

Since moving to the town 4 years ago I live in now I've also had a real rollercoaster ride regarding church, youth groups, friends, etc. I've gone through a couple of them, but they don't seem to last very long. The same is happening with me at the moment regarding my friendships. All my fiends seen to be having some or other issue and I haven't heard from from most of them in weeks :-(

Hope I didn't come across as selfish there. Just wanted you to know you're not alone out there regarding such issues and that I'll pray for both you and myself.

God bless

R

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them.
