I can't pick an anime!

I can't pick an anime!

Postby plutogrl03 » Wed Apr 14, 2004 7:35 pm

I know this is too petty to be worth posting, but I can't decide!
I want to buy an anime. I have cut it down to three: buying the first volume of Azumanga Daioh now, saving up for the box-set of Mini-Goddess, or buying the first two volumes of Cowboy Bebop. I am only choosing from the DVDs. Give me some pros and cons. If you find a really good price for any of them let me know. Thanks!! :P

well i dont know anything about the first too, but Saints right, how can you go wrong with cowboy beebop. If you like some dry humor and action thats definatly the anime for you.

I personally prefer to save up for box sets because they are generally a better value.

I think it's more of a question of taste. I like action/adventure over total (and rather shoujo-ish) comedy, so I'd choose Cowboy Bebop. Besides, the first 6 eps of CB are stand-alones, so even if you don't get to buy the entire series, it's still worth it.

I am assuming that you like all three titles equally.

From that assumption, I would go with the complete set, which in this case is Mini-Goddess (I have never seen that one). If it is available, I always prefer the complete set since they tend to be good deals, and it is possible to thoroughly enjoy it since it comes with all the episodes.

Yes, I would recommend Cowboy Bebop, though saving up to buy the whole series might be more worthwhile. It annoys me somewhat when I only get to view part of a series (if it is a good series). Also, if you have a credit card (or access to one via parents! ;) ), then you can find some great deals online (such as at Amazon.com) for boxed sets of anime series!

i think you should get Cowboy Bebop since i don't know about the other animes. the best price i have seen them for is 19 or 20 dollars at Target. Amazon had a really good price for the boxset but they are all out of it right now.

Being a big Bebop fan too, I definately have to give the show my thumbs up.

But I can't ignore the suggestion to save up for Boxsets--they actually are quite the economical choice in the long run.

The solution? Keep saving for the Bebop boxset! ;)

I have decided!

Postby plutogrl03 » Thu Apr 15, 2004 9:06 pm

After reading your posts and some personal deliberation, I have decided to save up and buy the box set of mini-goddess. I'm only $30 dollars away from the purchase price on Amazon. Thanks for all your help. BTW, I'm still interested in getting azumanga daioh, but it will be cheaper if I wait until there is a full box set. Anyone have any idea how many volumes there will be? Let me know. ^__^

I believe there will be four volumes, but I'm not positive. I'm pretty sure that there is going to be four, though. ADV is releasing volume one on the 27th, and also volume one with the collector's edition box so that you can put the other volumes in there when you get them. But it might be a while before all four volumes are out.
