I'm back - does anyone actually remember me??

Postby HondaTooru » Wed Jul 01, 2009 11:44 pm

Hello everyone! I see a lot of the same people are still kickin' it here at the CAA! I've been known to check in now and then, but I think I'll be back for a while now since I have more free time.

A lot has changed since I first joined! I was a baby Christian then, having just accepted Christ and I was living the single life with a roommate in Chandler, AZ. Now I live in a small town on Washington's beautiful Olympic Peninsula with my husband of one year, Terry. I'm a lot more solid in my faith now, learning more each day about how Jesus continues to work on me over the years. He changes you as soon as you let Him in, but that's when the journey really begins!
So what's up? Who wants to be my buddy?
Oh yeah, and what are some awesome new anime series' that you'd recommend? I'm soooo out of the loop! The last one I watched was Peach Girl on hulu and it was surprisingly better than I thought it would be!

Hi Tooru-san. It's nice to meet you. My name is Derek as it is in my profile name. Lulz, anyway I would love to have you as a friend. The more the merrier they say. ^^ Umm.....a good anime series that I'm watching right now is called Gundam 00. It's really good. Hope your having a good day.
Derek -The Daring Pokemon - A cool, totally awesome Pokemon that uses his power of song, medical skills and powers of cool to make others see things differently. He is not temperamental, but he likes to pull pranks and grins when you fall into his traps. Usually, he styles a fedora and prances around on all fours, he's all black with a white belly.

"Although I look into infinity. I only see the lords eyes, always shining upon my face and smiling in my heart. He will always be with me, no matter where I may go. Always watch over me lord. For I shall be eternal in your light."-Derek.

Welcome Back, Honda. I obviously wasn't around when you joined, so let me introduce myself. My name is Rocklobster and I'm an alien from Planet Claire. (Well, not really.)

Hisashiburi, Tooru! And don't let Rocklobster lie to you, he really is an alien.

Someone who likes Peach Girl would probably also enjoy Suzuka; that would be my first recommendation. Go post this query in our Anime Recommendations thread , though. You'll find plenty of advice there.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Hello there, Tohru and welcome back to CAA ^__^

I take it that this will serve as the trending "Ask me anything" thread :D?

What anime genres are you into the most ^__^?

What brought you to our humble CAA ^___^?

As for anime recommendations, please click here ^__^

Thanks for your replies and recommendations. Actually, I did see Suzuka already because that was also on Hulu, which is my primary source of entertainment!

OK, it's an "ask me anything"! LOL Why not?

What anime genres are you into the most ^__^?

Well, Fushigi Yuugi was my favorite of all time because of the love story (awww). Yeah, I'm sappy for the romances. I like originality though - Part of the reason why I liked Peach Girl was that the main character turned out to be a really cool person and she wasn't overly cliche' or whiny. I like a wide range of stuff though, just not big into the robot suits.

What brought you to our humble CAA ^___^?
Well "Christian Anime" is kind of an oxymoron, isn't it? I wish such a thing existed! But it's nice to come to a friendly place where I can share my interests (like anime, manga, and gaming) with other people who have a lot of similar values and a certain standard of etiquette. All the other forums on the web run rampant with cursing and trolling, which the admins here do a great job of deleting before I ever get to see it! :thumb:

You know, I wouldn't have found it on my own though. A friend found the site and told me about it. How did you guys end up here??

Welcome back to the CAA. I was not hear when you joined, but you will find me on the site quite a bit. Pleasure to meet you, Miss Aki.

I like that you are big into the Red Cross. I like to give blood too....as long as I don't see it. lol

Hmm...if you like anime with romantic comedy, then I highly suggest Chibi Vampire and my favorite Maison Ikkoku. Chibi is more playful whereas Maison is set in modern times ans situations...with great characters.

Enjoy your stay!

Good to hear! Keep it up! I wasn't always so consistent with donating blood and I've never volunteered until this year, but it's something that the Lord really laid on my heart recently! And this burning desire to get out there in the world and truly try to be more like Jesus was further fueled by reading "The Irresistible Revolution: living as an ordinary radical" by Shane Claiborne. Excellent read! I recommend it to everyone! :thumb:

Thanks for the suggestions, that's really helpful and they are both unfamiliar to my ears!

Fellow FY fan! So which of the Suzaku Seven was your favorite? Mine used to be Hotohori, but after watching the series again recently, I think it's Nuriko now. I love how he matures as the series progresses - in the end, he's practically a different person!

Hmmm.. Fav disney character used to be Jasmine because she's GORGEOUS, but then I saw Aladdin 2 and right in the beginning she annoys me because she sounds all ditzy and not at all like the strong, independent woman she was in the 1st one. So I changed my mind a while back and decided I'd rather be Belle because she's brainy AND beautiful. :)
