I'm glad you ended up getting a copy. Did they have it at Best Buy?

After listening to this album more (I've got 7 or 8 plays under my belt), I've noticed something - this album feels like Vheissu to me, except, well that I think it's better. However, that's neither here nor there. This album, though, feels much rawer. Not raw like the 'Bread, but raw as in:

I think that they did a good job of knifing screamo with this album. All jokes aside, though, it really does feel like they're done with their previous sound, and while I enjoyed their previous albums, I'm not upset that they're moving on. It's a refreshing change.

It's funny that you should mention Vheissu (which I don't think it's better, but I've also listened to Vheissu extensively and not this one yet, so we'll see) because after Old Crows really kicked in, I looked at my brother and said "This feels like Thrice." It's REALLY good, though. I'm digging it supremely. I wound up grabbing it for 8 bucks at Best Buy. It was a really good buy for the price.

Also, may I just say that I ADORE the drumming on this album? Raw is an excellent description of it. There's something really primal about the instrumentation on it.

"Who is this?" they said to Me
'That the wind and waves obey
Come, let's hang Him on a tree
That His reign should pass away'
But here I am I say to you
Though you turn away, it is My will
To love you for forevermore
Peace be still, peace be still

The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die (yes, it can be considered shallow, but I just love blasting those beats at full volume while taking a long drive to somewhere, my guilty pleasure ^_^).

Normally I'd go for something with more meaning though, like Raising Sand by Robert Palmer and Vanessa Krausse, or Closer by Sarah McLachlan.
