You took the words right out of my mouth. I watched Death Note episodes 2-14, and oh my goodness. :wow!: This is an amazing anime. Not only is the plot deliciously dense and filled with tension, but now I can finally understand why everyone raves so much over L. Man, when I saw the first episode where they showed all of him, rather than just having him sit in the shadows talking, I liked him right away. There are dozens and dozens of quirky anime characters, but I don't think I've ever seen an anime character that was this fascinating. I also find his huge, empty black eyes a little freaky, and I feel sorry for him from time to time. Definitely a favorite character by now. And Light is every bit as interesting to watch.

I also watched FMA: Brotherhood episode 11, and laughed raucously almost the whole way through

EDIT: ^^^ This is an animu about Johnny.

Eden of the East has just finished it's run. I was worried when I heard that the story would continue in a theatrical movie and that the end of the TV series was going to be an abrupt end. After all, it was only 11 episodes, which isn't a lot to work with, especially for something that has a lot of potential for complexity. I am really glad with the way it ended though. It was just enough closure to satisfy me and it was still open enough to make a movie necessary.

For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Eden of the East is a new anime that just aired this past season. It's produced by the team that did GitS: Stand Alone Complex and has the same director, Kamiyama Kenji. The character designs were done by Honey and Clover mangaka Umino Chika.

On November 22, 2010, ten missiles strike Japan, resulting in zero casualties. Because of this, the incident is called "Careless Monday". The story begins a few months later with a new university graduate who's in US for her grad trip, gets into some trouble outside the White House, and is saved by a guy who is naked, lost his memory, and has a gun and a cell phone with close to 10 billion yen available for use.

Another visual novel, Narcissu is a free visual novel with an official English translation available for Windows, OS X, and Linux. It's about a 20 year-old guy and 22 year-old girl who meet in the floor of the hospital for terminally ill patients. They decide to escape together and drive off somewhere. Narcissu is about their journey together.

It's really short for a visual novel, taking about two or three hours. It's fairly minimalistic and there are no paths or choices. It is pretty sad, since it's about two people who are basically at the end of their life and decide not to simply die in the hospital or in their own home. I think it's a pretty good way to take a look at the visual novel genre, since it's so short and simple, not to mention free.

Right. Also, Light is probably one of the best antiheroes I've remember ever seeing. Most antiheroes are rude, chaotic jerks with reproachable methods but with a golden heart deep down. Light is all the opposite: polite, likeable, methodic and clean, but deep down is a cruel, cold hearted and more importantly, crazy-as-a-goat individual. And yet, his personality is so compelling that one has a hard time sideing up with him. Thankfully, L is just as likeable (and nutty) as him. Were his opponent one of the classic silent, maniacal, narrowminded cop of the anime world, we'd have no choice but side up with the murderous but adorable crackshot. Really good writing on this one.

K-ON! finished up this week. Last week was the finale and this week was an extra episode, much like it was for Clannad. K-ON! was decent slice of life. It wasn't the greatest and it certainly didn't have Kyoto Animation's best working on it. I found it really dragged when they tried to fill in the gaps left by the 4-koma. The best parts were definitely when they were doing something substantial musically, particularly the concerts. I'd check it out if you enjoyed other slice of life shows in the same vein, otherwise, there's not much that's particularly earth-shattering to see here.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 - ep.1-16

Its ok I guess. I kinda feel a lot like I did when I watched the first one. This one gets a bit convoluted, and the student/zero thing is a bit tiresome.
However the battle scenes are quite good and I like the strategies involved.

I have now powered through most of Ouran, and have made it to episode 23. A little nasty at times with all of the homosexuals, but an otherwise excellent show.

I'm weekly watching Naruto Shippuden. The anime is getting awesome while the manga is starting to suck, though I know the sucky parts of the manga will be in the anime eventually. I'll enjoy the good parts until then.

I'm also trying to follow haruhi season 2, and waiting patiently* for Umineko no Naku koro ni...

Of course, my passport / birth certificate issues are taking up my concern a lot more.

I'm sort of curious to see what Kyoto Animation will do next, and hope they retain the majority of their actors like they did with Lucky Star... Haruhi meant so much more to me after Lucky Star.

I'm on episode 10 of Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino. I was stoked when I stumbled across this on Veoh while looking for something entirely unrelated for my mom, and when I started watching it I was very happy to see Pinocchio in it; he was my favorite character from the manga and I was disappointed with the first series because he wasn't in it.

Uh? The manga started to suck too? Is there no hope left in this sad world?

Does Teatrino grade favourably against the first series? I was excited when I first heard about a second series but then I heard it was focusing only in one of the girls, so I kinda lost my excitement.

I'm myself just finished ep 19 of Death Note. This anime makes me seriously giddy at schoolgirl-in-love levels. Also, just started Gantz but I'm not liking it at all. If by ep 5 I'm not hooked, I'll let it go.
