Ponyo to open on 800 U.S. theaters

Postby Roy Mustang » Thu Jun 04, 2009 11:17 pm

ANN wrote:Frank Marshall, one of the producers for the North American release of Hayao Miyazaki's latest film Ponyo, has revealed on his personal Twitter account that the film "will be opening on 800 screens in August, by far the biggest opening for a Miyazaki film…." He had previously revealed that the American Ponyo trailer will premiere during the July 4th weekend. The film itself will open on August 14 after advance screenings in Los Angeles and Berkeley, California.

I doubt it will come out in my theatres so I'll probably just wait untill the DVD. I would love to go see it of course, don't get me wrong. I just don't want to travel somewhere to see it.

I sure hope it shows around my area but I imagine most of the folks around here prefer hillbilly and blood and gore films.

It's a foreign film so to speak so it's not going to have many theatres showing it.

I hope it comes to a theater that's kind of close by. XD I'd love to see a Miyazaki film in theaters!

I saw a poster at the theater when I went to watch Star Trek.

I should see it there, and make sure I do it soon after it comes out, because it probably won't last long. It took an oscar to get Spirited Away into enough theaters for me to see it.
