Actually I am from a part of Canada that is considered a "desert", meaning it is only frozen half the year.
I got into anime recently and I will blame my roommate at university last semester for that as well as YouTube. So far I have really only watched some of Hirao Miyazaki's stuff (I hope I spelled that right) and some TV series including Trinity Blood, some Trigun, and some Inuyasha.
One thing I dislike about anime is that it often features a lot of eastern thinking and mysticism (understandable since it originated in Japan) - namely Buddhism, Confucianism, and Shintoism. That does not mean I think Christians should condemn it entirely. I think anime is a great invention with a potential that I would like to see more Christian artists harness. For example, I like the idea of making an anime Pilgrim's Progress that some people here at CAA have started on. What did Jesus use when he wanted to teach people great truths? Parables and stories. Anime is a great way to tell a story and if it is a story from a Christian worldview, it has great potential to reach people all over the place.
So ya. That's my intro rant. Nice to meet you all and I will say that I love some of the quotes and pictures that people put in their signatures.
A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.
C.S. Lewis
Salvation is from our side a choice, from the divine side it is a seizing upon, an apprehending, a conquest by the Most High God. Our "accepting" and "willing" are reactions rather than actions. The right of determination must always remain with God.
A.W. Tozer
The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
