In a good bit of pain

Postby Sheenar » Sun Mar 15, 2009 8:52 pm

I had a fall in WalMart over Christmas break. I slipped in some water on the floor and hit pretty hard. At first, I thought that I had just bruised my knee. But the next morning, I woke up and my right shoulder hurt pretty bad.
I saw my orthopedist (the one who did my knee and Achilles surgeries) and was prescribed muscle relaxers to help relax my muscles so I can sleep and was referred for physical therapy.
Well, I did PT for about 2 1/2 weeks --with really no improvement in my pain level. In fact, my neck began hurting more (it was hurting very little at first). So I went back to my orthopedist and was referred to another doctor (since nothing is wrong with my joints or bones) --the new doctor is seeing me as a favor to my orthopedist --his office does not normally see Medicaid patients. My appointment is this Thursday at 3:30.

I just returned from a Spring Break mission trip. I did a lot of bending down (lived out of a bag for a week, helped pick up garbage, etc.) and now my neck hurts a whole lot worse. Bending down makes it hurt more. But I can't completely avoid bending down.

Please pray for me --that the doctor will be able to find out what's going on at my appointment on Thursday and also that the pain will not hinder me from going to/paying attention in my classes this week.

Thank you.

Have had a sore throat for a few days, so I went to the on-campus clinic yesterday and found out that I have minor tonsillitis. Thankfully, I do not have to have my tonsils removed because we caught it so soon and the course of antibiotics I'm on should take care of it.

I am still hurting a lot, but I am doing okay otherwise. I picked up my graduation invitations yesterday and will start mailing them out soon. Feel like I'm going a little crazy with all the stuff going on. But God is good and He is definitely providing for me and teaching me things.

Yeah, I've had minor tonsillitis as well. It was terrible, I couldn't eat anything that was chunky. Even pasta with little meat in it hurt me.

Well, I hope all goes well! God bless ya!

Went to the doctor today and he wrote an order for a cervical (neck) MRI --it'll be scheduled tomorrow and I'll find out when and where it will be.

Please pray for that --that they will find out what's going on and also that I'll have peace during the test. MRIs always make me nervous --they're so loud and I get fidgety laying on my back for so long. I'll probably have to be sedated again.

My throat is still sore, but I am doing okay. Just really tired.

Finally broke down and accepted my doctor's offer to write a script for some pain medicine. He assured me that he didn't think I would become addicted and that it would help me sleep better. I sure hope so --I haven't been sleeping so well, so a good night's sleep would be wonderful.

As for the MRI, still waiting to hear back from the place about when it is scheduled.

Other than the pain, I am doing well. My tonsilitis pretty much went away --am on some more antibiotics and prednisone for some allergy stuff and the remaining throat stuff.

God is good. He is definitely providing. I am so blessed.

My MRI is scheduled for Friday, April 3 at 5:30 pm. My aunt is coming with me (praise God!) and will watch Pebbles for me while I'm in the room (since, you know, it wouldn't be safe for her to be where the MRI machine is).

Thank you for your prayers. Please pray for me on the 3rd.

Been having bad muscle cramps in my back the last few nights. The muscle relaxer the doctor gave me doesn't seem to be helping the spasms anymore. I've been able to sleep okay with a heating pad, but have had trouble getting to the point where I can fall asleep.

MRI is Friday (4/3). Kind of scared.

Received authorization from Medicaid --my MRI is tomorrow at 6 pm. Please pray for me --I will be going by myself and these things can be kind of scary at times.

Thank you! :D

I had my MRI yesterday and it went well. I had to leave Pebbles with my friend in the waiting room, but she told me that she just slept the whole time.

The whole test was over in 15 minutes --it was kind of neat because the MRI machine was in a trailer (the kind 18 wheelers pull) behind the center. I didn't know they made mobile MRI centers (and CT ones too).

I wore a gown and scrub pants for the test. Now I want some scrub pants --they were really comfortable.

When I was checking out, they even gave me a coffee thermos.

So it was a really positive experience! Thank you for your prayers! Now we wait for the results.

I went to the doctor today and was told that the MRI showed that I have some bulging discs in my neck, but nothing serious --it should all heal on its own. Since I've been having so much pain, the doctor scheduled me to go to the local surgery center and have injections into the cartilage in my neck (I'll be asleep for all this) on April 24 (next week on Friday).

Please be in prayer for this. I am so relieved that nothing serious is wrong.

I get my shots today at the Surgery Center. Please be in prayer that this will help and that they will only have to stick me once for the IV (honestly, that's what scares me --getting stuck with the IV needle --not having a needle in my neck--'cause well, I'll be asleep for that part. :) ).

A second prayer request: Pray that I get my priorities straight. I haven't read my Bible in about 4-5 days and I've been staying up way too late goofing around on the computer. As the semester draws to a close and graduation is coming closer (22 days!), I really need my focus to be where it should be: on the Lord --He is the only one who can get me through the next few weeks. What amazes me is how He keeps providing and just doing amazing things even though I've been so unfaithful and have let other things distract me from Him.

Everything went well. They stuck me 3 times and weren't able to get a vein, so they just used some gas to knock me out and then put the IV in.

I'm home now, resting --going to watch a movie, eat some soup, and relax. And go to a friend's birthday party.

Thank you guys so much for your prayers!

I'm still hurting a good bit --but the doctor told me it could be 72 hours before I start feeling relief. It's only been 1 day, so I should be feeling better by Monday or so.
Thank you all again for your prayers.

I did read the 1st chapter of Hebrews this morning before I did anything else, so that's a good start.

Praying! For some reason needles don't bother me that much, but I don't think I've ever had an IV before so I'm not sure how that feels. Anyways, I hope you start to feel alot better. Trust in God! God bless!

The numbing medicine wore off today, so during the church service, I started hurting really bad. My friend followed me home to make sure I got there today --and I have been ordered by her (and by my adopted mom at church) to stay home and take it easy --though I had planned to drive to my aunt's house in the next town over and I am supposed to go to the barn at 4:30 to feed horses.

I talked to my doctor and he said that I should feel better by tomorrow and that feeling pain is normal. So I just have to wait it out. I took some Tylenol and I'm going to eat some lunch and sleep for a while.

Thank you for praying! I really appreciate your prayers so much.

I've had a killer migraine of death for the better part of today. My face, hands, etc. kept going numb --the doctor on campus just gave me some pain medicine and told me to come back in a couple of days.

Please pray that this migraine goes away --tomorrow, I have class, a meeting with the Housing Authority to finalize things concerning my housing, and the Ag Banquet at which I will be receiving an award (plus, the food is going to be awesome).

Thank you guys for your prayers. I apologize if it sounds like all I'm doing is complaining --I am just going through a hard time physically (and in other ways as well). I am looking forward to seeing how God answers prayers and how He provides.

I prayed! Sometimes you can get migraines from certain medicines. I hope you feel better.

If you don't mind me asking, can you pray for me too? I've been getting headaches lately. Thanks and God bless!
