Giant Robo Episode 1... this is actually surprisingly good. I have to admit I wasn't too keen about it when I saw some clips before hand. Not a huge fan of giant robot anime. And the style is a little more... kiddish I guess. But the animation is very smooth and it's actually really keeping my interest. I'm looking forward to the next episode...

More season impressions:

Shangri-la 01: The concept is kind of interesting until they make it difficult for you to suspend your disbelief with their whole carbon credits system and carbon police and girl fighting with a boomerang.

Pandora Hearts 01: I had no idea what this was about before I started and I still have no idea what it's about. It might have been the group's encode, but the animation quality seems terrible.

Cross Game 01: Excellent. I am looking forward to more of this, even though I do not normally like sports anime.

And not this season, but the Hidamari Sketch x365 DVD special (Hidamari Sketch x365 EX) was excellent. More fun with the Hidamari Sketch crew that made me want a third season very badly.

Also finished Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou. Much like Hidamari Sketch above, the ending was really nice, the entire series leaves you with a nice feeling, and I wish for a third season.

Let's see. The only new-season show I've watched thus far is Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ which is pretty solid. I might keep watching it.

For other series, working my way through Soul Eater (ep 32) and Zettai Karen Children (ep 5). I'm surprised by how much I like ZKC, actually. It's just so cute and heartwarming. <3

I'm also re-watching the original FMA 'cause I'm showing it to my grandparents. It's my first time seeing the dub and it's pretty good. Ed and Al shine the most, but most of the voice acting is excellent. I'm not quite as pleased with Roy though - something about his voice doesn't quite do it for me, but oh well. I'll get used to it.

I agree about Travis Willingham's Mustang. Often, he sounds bored rather than suave, like Toru Okawa made him sound. But, like most of the voice actors in the FMA dub, he has it where it counts. Have you watched Episode 25 yet? He's really good in that one, I think.

Anyway, I watched Tsubasa Chronicle episodes 19-23, and:
OMG FAI IS DEAD?!!!! :wow!:
Also watched the first episode of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood   :jump:

So normally I wouldn't comment about a series after watching the second-to-last episode, but:

Toradora!. Oh gosh. I was actually hoping for another couple, but after this episode, I am TOTALLY convinced of it. But the actual development was a bit fast, even though we've expected it for quite a while. But while they totally jumped the shark, it was very rewarding.
"BE MY WIFE!" AAAAAAAH and "Omae ga-- Anta ga-- Su--" These are cheap tactics WHY AM I FALLING FOR THEM. And I totally started crying when Minorin was.
Overall, I think this series is going to take second place on my favorite high school romance anime list, after Lovely Complex. It's poised to take first; we'll see how ep 25 goes.

In other news, Maria+Holic: finished. The end of this series is totally just asking for a new one, with that fact that nothing was established or closed up at all. I hope there's a new one though~ although I kind of liked that they established nothing of Kanako and Mariya's relationship.

I just finished Shigurui.. I was rather disappointed that
We didn't actually see the final battle, and that they didn't explain how Fujiki lost his arm,
but at least the guy that I was hoping to win did. ^_^ Now on to Gunslinger Girl 2.

Matantei Loki Ragnarok [complete]

Senkaiden Houshin Engi [complete]

Two mediocre endings for two mediocre anime.

Sigh, both manga versions were much better.

Shangri-La episode 1

CARBON IS BAD YOU GUYS.

Also, the number of transvestites acceptable in any of my Anime: one. So Shangri-La's already pushing its luck with three of them.

Spring season impressions:

Shangri-La: Felt a bit rushed, like they were trying to do too much in one episode, and the awkward exposition about carbon taxes sort of hurt the pacing. But regardless, I'm interested in seeing where this goes...

Pandora Hearts: Not bad, but it ended at a weird place, and didn't really explain anything.

Basquash!: The fanservice felt overdone, but man...was this a fast-paced and high-energy episode. It was giving off Gurren Lagann vibes left and right.
Also, blatant Nike product placement...

Shin Mazinger Shōgeki! Z-Hen: This felt basically incoherent, which I'm sure is the point. I think it's been awhile since Imagawa(Giant Robo, G-Gundam) directed anything else though.

Valkyria Chronicles: Solid, if not particularly exceptional. We'll see if this can overcome the problems of typical video game adaptations.

Guin Saga: This was pretty good actually, although it was rushed in the beginning. I do have to wonder how much of the novels this series plans to actually cover. Given the existence of an English trailer, I suspect this will licensed shortly.

Eden of the East: I'm not completely sure what direction this series is actually going in, but it had a fairly impressive first episode. Only 11 episodes apparently, so it's not that hard to follow.

Shin Mazinger Shō]

I haven't seen it yet, but my guess is that it expects you to have seen all the previous Mazinger series (which most people in Japan probably have XD). I'm curious about it seeing as how Imagawa is directing it, and it's Mazinger Z!

By the way, I'm on episode 33 (of 39) of Ideon, then it's time for the movie. Woo!

Watched Eden of the East; I'm very impressed. As artistically sound as Phantom was, this blows it right out of the water with its quirkiness and creativity. And the ending is one of the best things to come out of this season, I swear!

And the last of the shows that I wanted to catch this season:

Guin Saga 01: So it's based on this series of novels that's a billion volumes in length. I took a look at it because Nobuo Uematsu's doing the music for it. Otherwise, it's standard fantasy. The appeal seems to be in watching Guin destroy everything. But, he has amnesia and one of the twins he's with is annoying. ┐( ´ー`)┌

Sengoku BASARA 01: Code Geass + DBZ + Dynasty Warriors. Over the top, unintentionally hilarious, burning spirit.

Hastukoi Limited 01: It appears to be a collection of short stories? I don't know, because I don't see where this is going in 12 episodes with such a large cast. Don't know what to think yet.

Higashi no Eden 01: BEST OP OF THE SEASON RIGHT HERE. Fantastic English, high production values, intriguing concept. I think we have a winner on our hands here.

FINALLY got around to stuff from this season~

K-On!: Actually, I was a bit disappointed. I expected to see cute girls rocking out more than cute girls tripping over air and dropping things. I mean, I suppose that's that point of the plot, but.... eh. I prefer it when moe has strong female characters, or at least tsundere.

Shangri-la: Murata Range~~~ Premise is a bit unintentionally silly, but a great opening hook. I'm not as excited as I could be about this, but it looks like it'll be great anyway. Could be a little more distinct though.

Higashi no Eden: AMAZING. Amazing visuals, amazing English, amazing situations and humor. I rarely get this excited for a series that I went into with no prior knowledge. The ED was WONDERFUL. Also, I've discovered that I will watch and inevitably like any series involving terrorists even just a little (20th Century Boys, Geass, Conan to some extent, etc)

Also planning on watching Saki and maaaaaaaybe Hatsukoi Limited (I expect it to be crap, but I happen to like Kawashita Mizuki series). Five series in one season is a definite first for me though, since I can't be as cool as blkmage and watch like every single freaking show all the way through.

Yesterday, watched half an ep of Zettai Karen Children but still haven't finished. *ish lame*

Today, another disc of FMA. <3 Vic is really really growing on me. And, for absolutely no reason at all, "The Adventures of Asahina Mikuru" from Haruhi Suzumiya. Kekekeke, already seen it but I laughed like an idiot. "Wait, why is the camera tilting up?!"
