I've drawn quite a blank.
I need some ideas for some songs. Probably you guys can help?

As you know, I don't write many goofy songs, I usually write rock 'n' roll and soft love songs, etc.
So, nothing like monkeys riding bicycles as a Jamaican alligator named Artsy Fartsy chases after them while he listens to Bethoven. lol.

So, any ideas?

The start to writing a song is usually the lyrics, and this is basically the same as writing poetry...

Well when you think of love what do you think about?
For example, if you do like a person explain how she makes you feel in a metaphorical sense..
ie - her eyes are like pools and I fall, drowning in her gaze of wonder..

As for a rock and roll song simply express how you want to create great music, rant about politics, or simply party it up. that's all the advice I have for now but I hope it helps.. ^^

....what about a song of eternal friendship....something heart-warming....
" You are in a world where I cannot reach,
even still you teach
me to be a better person with no fears...
it is for you that I drown my room with tears..."

Morbid, I know.....but that is something I would personally like.
Jeremiah 29:11-"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

If you rearrange that and have a few tweaks, It can make a great ballad.

---

I wrote this today. It was inspired by a caption of my Avatar someone made saying "I'm hearing colours seeing sounds."

So, I wrote a song based off that.

Hearing Colours
Written by Jonathan Sheaves

Last chance, Rock ‘]Bridge:
I want something,
That I can get,
With you and I,
Together,
Alright,
I want something,
That I can get,
With you and I,
Together,
Alright,

C’mon baby, one more dance,
Let’s get together, one more chance,
Get it right, don’tcha get it wrong,
C’mon baby, sing my song.

Bridge

Chorus:
I want to get you,
Alone,
So we can,
Feel at home,
And I can,
Build my clones,
’Cause I want to be;
Hearin’ colours,
Seein’ sounds,
Okay!

~Solo~

Never again will I, leave you alone,
C’mon baby take me home,
We can dance the whole night through,
Let’s get dirty, just me and you.

Bridge

Chorus

Bridge

Alright, now!

Bridge

Got it?

Bridge

Alright!

~Solo and repeating of chorus as the song fades out~

Hmmm....it seems very lively and upbeat....probably with emphasis on the first and third notes, steady chord progression, and in the key of F.....or that's what I get from it....

You have great writing skills, which leads me to ask how fast can you write up a song? I am leading a writer's thing for the high school I work/go to, and we just lost one of our students named Matt Hunter. He had just turned sixteen and gotten a new car, and died from an accident. If you could write a song about life's journey, many-icliding his family- would deeply appreciate it.....

It's a lot to ask....
Thanks for your time.

I once wrote a song about a family member dying... If you want to read that one.

But, I was planning on writing a song that would be played with piano. Probably I can work with that.

Well, I usually get my ideas in the shower (lol), or in bed, and when I wake up or get out of the shower, I write down my ideas. Then, I really go on from there. But overall, probably 10-25 minutes?

You get your ideas in the shower? 0.o Huh, so I'm not alone....
Well, if you could do anything....I'd appreciate it.

I've been doing a lot of thinking.
I'm probably going to base it off these three songs:

"Heart's Grown Cold" by Nazareth:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuFjPvKD8lc&feature=related

"Bed of Roses" by Statler Brothers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9AeJ__fnTQ&feature=related

"Coming Back to Life" by Pink Floyd
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCSFz_YycYA

I'm thinking about entitling it "Fork in the Road", referencing that there are two paths that you can go down in life, a good and a bad way. And once you go down that one road, there is no turning back. Because you can't change the past.

See, I'm a genius!
lol.

EDIT: Special Delivery!

I had this epiphany when I was writing this. It can also be taken as an Anti-Suicide song, or a song to someone who has dealt with demons in the past.
I was listening to some Pink Floyd, and it really got me thinking.

Now, Some symbolism in this.

"The War Torn Paradise" would symbolize her life. Such a wondrous thing, But just going the wrong way.

"The War or The Battle" that is brought up several times is the demons she's facing such as drug abuse or alcohol abuse. Maybe not even her; Concern over a loved one with the same problem?

"The Gun" is not a gun. It's.. You guessed it. SYMBOLISM! Basically, pull the trigger it's over, don't pull the trigger it's not. Basically he same meaning as The Fork in the Road. There's a right way or the wrong way.

"The Revelry" is the great experiences that she experienced, or in this case, yet to come. If you don't know the definition of Revelry it is...

Revelry - Joyful or merry-making.

Pulled that sucker from a Doors song.

The line: "Don't Go Catch Her" means to not interfere to help her get better. She will make it on her own, really.

"The Sun" is basically God, or some mystical being that watches over her such as a Guardian Angel telling her to keep you head up high, things will get better.

"The Wind" to a far off land what we refer to as Heaven.

"Starry Night Skies" is the Guardian Angel of some sorts guiding her.

Fork in the Road
Written by Jonathan Sheaves

Revelry surrounds her,
Not ready to run.
The war is not over,
She plays with a gun,
Sitting around her,
A war torn paradise.
Watching over,
Those starry night skies,

Bridge:
And when she turns in,
The battle rages on,
She wants to leave,
Maybe she’s already gone.

Chorus:
Bask in the laughter,
Bask in the lights,
Don’t go catch her,
She’s losing her mind,
But don’t feel sad when her soul is sold,
Wait until she reaches the next fork in the road.

Are you ready to learn,
about everything twice?
Can you say the words,
The words on your mind?
Pondering life,
(What’s all this revelry around her?)
Questions are nothing,
We want all the answers.

Bridge

Chorus

~Solo~

And I know she just wants to fly away.
But honey, there’s more than just one way,
Don’tcha worry, about the rain in the sky,
The sun will show, to uncover the lie.

And she wants to go,
Go with the wind.
Don’t fall through the ice,
Don’t let yourself slip.
’Cause there’s a reason,
A reason for life.
But there’s no answers,
Just a war torn paradise.

Bridge

Chorus

Chorus

And is there anyway back?
I’ve lost my direction.

~Solo~

Just waiting for that fork in the road.
I’m just waiting for that fork in the road.

Just some old saying, it's actually, you bet your sweet bippy. Bippy most likely referring to the posterior.

Basically a much more fun way to say, you betcha!
