After briefly reading Laporte's website (thanks glitch1501), it seems like the current owning company (Vulcan Ventures ?) does not understand that it is important to hold onto the stars of their channel.

Leo Laporte, in my mind, is the face of TechTV. He has a large part in maintaining its audience following.

I am still having a hard time believing this. If what Laporte describes in his blog is true, then Vulcan Ventures made a move that could be considered by some (including me) as idiotic.

It is just going to be weird for awhile not seeing Laporte on TechTV.
Find me on Steam, PlayStation Network (OmegaAmen), Backloggery, Twitter, and Twitch.tv

He said on the radio that the channel is going to be sold soon so he is going to ask for his spot back from the new owners. I hope for their sakes they take him back.

That's increadibly hard to believe, but apparently true. I agree that was a very stupid move by Vulcan Ventures; I would think that Comcast would bring him back on since I heard that they are going to be doing alot of changes to TechTV.

Isn't he the guy who hosts Call For Help?

I was watching a rerun today (don't know how old it was), he had been taking some vacation time before his contract was up, but he was saying that he was still going to be on the channel, when did this change (or does anyone know when the show that was on this afternoon originally aired)?

Another way TechTV seems to be going down hill, eh?

Great, he was the best face of Tech TV like Omega said. It's going to be hard to envision the Screen Savers without him or even Call for Help. I certainly hope this is not true then Tech TV is going to find it hard to find a proper replacement.

I read somewhere that part of the Comcast purchase of TechTV meant that it was going to merge with G4. What I want to know is will it still be on DirectTV? I wonder if that had anything to do with Leo's decision.

Merging with G4 would either raise Tech TV or lower G4, not sure which.

G4 Does a lot of re-runs, but it's all good (since I can't watch all the time).... TechTV on the other hand runs so much junk it seems (at least from their promos)... I can see some of the british and canadian programs that they where running (the spy gadgets type stuff), but they've taken to some other topics that would be best left off that channel, there are others that can handle that better (the "sex" show and thier paranormal/conspiracies shows for example).

Leo won't have a hard time finding something to do though, I've seem him everywhere.... he seems to be a pretty sharp guy, and he's personable.

This sure brings back memories... I used to be on the TTV messageboards... I'd always hear people talk about how TTV was going down the drain... The loudest complainers were the ones that were saying the "crapanime" as they liked to call it was going to destroy the very fabric of the station and start world war III and break up the Beatles. I avoided talking about shows like "unscrewed" and "wired for sex" because all I had to do was not watch them... Got a lot of applause from the anime fans there, and a lot of flak from everyone else... Good times...

Leo is really leaving? That sucks... It really does. He's an Icon there. I can't believe they'd do something that stupid. I am thinking he may have been one of the people against all the changes and had some disagreements, but I haven't read the thing on Leoworld, so I'm just making up conspiracy theories. Maybe I could get on TTV, hehe.

I honestly can't think of any reason to ditch him... It's just a stupid move...
