I think that this may be the best 3D Sonic game since Sonic Adventures on the Sega Dreamcast. Yeah, the ware-Headhog looks stupid but as long as the camera works as it should, I'll be happy.

The problem is that Sega hasn't actually even slightly lifted a finger to improve upon the camera since Sonic Adventure.

Here comes Etymology Man to save the day!

Sonic would not be a werehedgehog in this game. You see, the term werewolf has been misapplied in many cases. In fact, did you know it is impossible for women to be werewolves? The reason is simple!

The prefix "were" literally means "man." Thus, werewolf means "manwolf." Thus, women cannot be werewolves because the term werewolf itself is masculine. It'd be like calling a man "she." Women would have to be wifwolves, as "wif" is the word that means female (also this is the root word where we get "wife" from in a marriage...pretty cool eh?).

Thus, a werehedgehog would be a man-hedgehog, in other words, a man who is a hedgehog. Well, Sonic isn't a human man, he's a hedgehog, so the term "werehedgehog" doesn't work. He can't be a werewolf, because he's not human...he's a hedgehog. So he'd have to be a hedgehogwolf I guess.

Though the term "were" has been misapplied to mean lycanthropy, this is in fact not the case. Though it seems that way (for example, Rei in the Breath of Fire games is a weretiger, which fits becuase he is a tiger and a man), it is not the case and to use it to imply lycanthropy is incorrect.

This is Etymology Man signing out!

The werewolf Sonic gameplay kinda looks interesting since you can bash enemies, but could end up badly. All in all, this game looks pretty interesting and might be a good Sonic console game.

I've played Patapon. XD It IS cool. Lol. I'm getting flamed here XD. Okay forget anything I said. Sonic the character pwns all other characters. The games though are a tad bit disappointing. The reason I said Ironman was my GotY was because I had a mindblank and couldn't think of anything else. In fact, I don't play many games other than mmos because I rather not spend money on games. Sorry :/

Yeah, there are free MMOs out there. I play one myself. Common conception though is that people either play mainstream monthly fee MMOs or spend Real Life money of In Game items in the underground free ones.

I never could completely grasp the point of this. I've spent plenty of dollars on video games, but I draw the line at paying real money for something that doesn't exist.

It's simply a different mode of looking at what an MMO provides as a commodity. The standard model views the time played as the service being provided by the MMO. You are paying for the abbility to spend time in their world. That's the thought that fueled the standard payment plans as well as the early harsh death penalties for players in games like EQ where you would literally lose hours of work at the higher ends of the game if you died.

In these new games, they're trying to mitigate the stigma of paying a monthly fee by saying instead that the commodity you're paying for is instead exclusive service within a game you are already given access to. It is no longer a time issue, it is an issue of exclusivity, or gaining that extra edge over those who also play the game. It's a model that is probably linked to DLC on services like XBL where in some instances you can actually buy weapons for combat games.

Shouldn't we get back on topic ^_^?

Anyway, I've been playing the PS3 version of Sonic Unleashed for the past few days and I have to say....I think its great!!

The daylight levels are insanely speedy and full of awesome dizzying loops and flips and alternate paths to find. I think they're a blast, like being on a rollercoaster. The nightime brawling levels are a little long, and not as cool as the daytime levels, but I've still been enjoying smacking around enemies with Sonic's combos and leveling up my stats, and swinging around with his stretchy arms is fun. I thought the "sun and moon" medal collecting would be annoying, but so far I've managed to collect enough medals in the towns and levels on my first playthroughs to get by without having to do to much extra searching. The night time boss fights have also been really fun so far. I loved the Dark Gaia Phoenix fight. There are some annoying load times between areas, but they aren't *nearly* as awful as the ones from Sonic 2006. And of course, the graphics are great on the PS3.

I'm honestly a little surprised at the negative reaction the game has been getting (the Wii version has been getting better reviews than the PS3/Xbox version though). Its not a perfect game, but its probably the best sonic console game since Adventure 2, and its WAAAAAY better than Sonic 2006.

No.

Sonic Unleashed is a terrible game. I'm open to the Wii or PS3 port being sufficiently okay if they have different controls, but if you're playing it on the Xbox 360, you have no excuse. It is a badly made game and it plays like a badly made game.

I remember Monkey J. Luffy was telling me when him and I went to NH that people on this site thought the idea of a Werehog was cool.

What are you people thinking?

The Sonic franchise has been dead for years.

I can't even remember what the last good Sonic game was.
Sonic 2 will always be my favorite.

Sonic 2 was released in November of 1992, so that can't be long after you were born. Don't talk about "remembering" the last good Sonic game. The Sonic Mega Collection doesn't count if you're not old enough to remember the original releases.

However, Sonic 2 was my favorite as well.

As for Sonic Unleashed . . . trust good ol' Yahtzee to tear it to bits like it deserves to be.

I received a Sega Genesis on Christmas morning, 1995.
The game in which my father purchased alongside it was indeed "Sonic the Hedgehog 2".

1995 was still the era in which Sonic games were excellent, so I do have the ability to recall such things.

And yes, at age four I played through Sonic and beat it..alot of times. I was in love with that game and the overall franchise at the time.

And I've never played the "Mega Collection" or whatever.
I think my friend had it for GameCube but I never owned a GameCube.
I'd explain why but then you'd get all offended when I compare it to the previous systems released by Nintendo and then tell me I'm too young to be entitled to anything. Speaking of which, I owned an NES before I owned a Genesis.

And I didn't say Sonic 2 was the last good one. I said it was my favorite of all the Sonic games.

And I'm glad you feel smart pointing out a high school student's grammatical errors on a forum about Sonic the Hedgehog on the internet. Seems like you have nothing better to do.
