Feeling really under the weather

Postby Dante » Wed Dec 03, 2008 4:26 am

I had really bad chills last night and strong upper-abdominal pains. I could hardly sleep more then a couple of hours thus far and I'm still not feeling so great. What's worse is that this seems to be changing into a somewhat chronic problem that happens every few months or so. The first time it sent me to the Hospital. Today I'm going off a couple hours sleep and I have an advanced physics presentation due and the final course in my lab to go to (I was really looking forward to the presentation too T_T (I love my lab kids too) ). Given the timing, I'm wondering if this may be somehow related to the stress levels in my life... I've been living off alternating shifts of staying up till 3 in the morning and waking up at 8 to going to bed at 10 at night and waking up at 11 the next day. but overall I was wondering if I might be able to get some prayer for healing and to make it through finals week.

I know that when we suffer, we are given the privilege of sharing, in small part, in the suffering that Christ went through. But it's not always easy to remind yourself of that when your starting to wish you could puke from the pressure and your shaking uncontrollably under four layers of covers in a winter coat and sweat pants. Please ask God to keep this in the forefront of my mind as I continue in this.

-Thank you very much,
and may God bless you!

Yo Pascal, keep strong during this hard time. Pressure always seem to mount up this time of the year, I just had an exam today and I got like 9 more before the 12th. It's a crap time to be working, but stay calm, do a little training and don't have too high expectations. This always seems to help even with the overall performance.

At either rate, God bless and I will be praying.

Thank you very much, feeling a little better today but I can't eat much at all with it "threatening" to get much worse... I was (thanks to God!) able to produce an excellent presentation for optics today despite my current condition. Hopefully this will clear itself up and will be instrumental in improving me.

-Thank you

David,

Its sounds to me that it could definetely be related to stress level. I know from experience what it can do to the body and it can create REAL medical problems (what i mean is needing medical attention not just psychosomatic) Anyways, you could also possibly have an ulcer. Which you may want to consider seeing a doc if its going on every so often. They can give you some meds to help heal it if needed.

Hope this helps a little :)

Hmm I should probably check that out with a Doctor, in many ways, I do have the symptoms of an ulcer (looking it up now). Still not eating all that much lately but my body isn't killing me like it was. I've been feeling rather good lately in fact, (at least compared to how I was feeling).

Thank you everyone for the prayers!
They definitely help!

Chills back this morning with some strong pains. Went to the doctor... strangely though he says that its the result of stress from finals spilling over to effect my physical body (The pain is real, the effects are real, but the source is ultimately psychological). Aka, if I refuse to implode from all the stress, my body is going to try and kill me T_T... O_o... Baka. Baka desu.

Anyways... it is only going to get five billion buckets more worth of stress if I fail these tests, so I'm stuck in a catch 22. Study and suffer now, or don't study and suffer later. I always do my best though, and I guess that this now entails physical pain as well... guess that's how the cookie crumbles, time to go and grin and bear it :shivers:.

Thank you and God bless you:

Feeling much better now, still some slight uneasiness once and a while, but it seems to have gone away for a short time... I hope this isn't a common thing when I get stressed from now on. Thank you everyone for keeping me in your prayers and thanks be to God who alone is able to heal me.

Pascal,

it sounds like you COULD have General Anxiety Disorder (not sure how long this has lasted). Or you could just be stressed over life events. Which is normal. Either way, do not be afraid to vent it all out. Helps and keep monitored over your health and how stress effects you. If it keeps happening, I would recommend maybe getting anti anxiety meds or seeing a therapist to help learn coping methods to keep anxiety down to a non harmful level, health wise.

Hope this helps, and glad your doing better.

I was diagnosed with depression during my senior year of high school. It was really a hard time for me spiritually and emotionally. It really has been a struggle. Continued prayer and thoughts for me would be appreciated as well. I found comfort in reading that the famed preacher Charles Spurgeon also suffered this same predicament.

InitialDFreak,

Depression never means you are less of a Christian or anything :)

I have Chronic Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Moderate Depression and hopefully that is it for now. Take heart, many biblical figures had problems with depression and things, but I think that's human :)

Thanks, that is comforting. My point was less about that, even though I feel like I am some days. But thats all a part of it I guess. I was talking more about Spurgeon and others who continued on and had a thriving ministry even though they were battling Depression.
