Planetes is family friendly? I mean I haven't seen the anime of it, but the manga sure wasn't family friendly in the least bit.

Anyway I'm currently watching DNAngel. Man talk about different from the manga!

Hmm... the anime is rated for 13 and up. People get killed, and blood is spilled. But nothing overly gory.

To be honest, it's not much worse than Naruto... Haku dying, fake Kabuto pulling out his own heart, Hidan having his head sliced off... I'll grant that this is more intense (especially since there's no music in the background during war scenes, just shouting and shooting) but not to excess blood like FMA.

So not family friendly, but teen friendly. And in my case, I know my family is mature enough to handle Naruto's uglier moments without being affected. So I think we'll be okay. :)

Don't get me wrong the darker shows such as Monster are generally my favorites, I haven't seen the anime of Planetes, but I've read the manga and it has quite a bit of strong language and detailed nudity and some sex. That's why I was surprised when you said Planetes. I'm glad that the anime is cleaner (my guess is that it's like Beck in that regard.)

I've just started getting into Kuroshitsuji. I've been enjoying it.
( I'm just praying it doesn't morph into a yaoi. )
also, Earl and Fairy. (which also has a butler in it. I'm on a butler kick. )

Ooh... well I see why you were concerned then. :P

Yeah, the anime is definitely heavily cleaned up then, there's absolutely no adult visuals or over-the-top cursing in it. That seems like a surprising difference between it and the manga... though I can't complain.

Don't know why I didn't do this sooner... but I looked up a CAA review, confirmed that I didn't overlook anything... 'tis a fairly clean anime except for war: http://www.christiananime.net/reviews_anime.php?display=205

Nice to meet someone else who loves the darker shows too.

Finally decided to endure through and finish Minami-ke Okawari, which was a spectacular disappointment compared to the first season.

I finished Witch Hunter Robin tonight. Quite an incredible show, and I honestly doubt I'll ever find a series that can top it, IMHO.

Just watched eps 1-8 of Witch Hunter Robin (introducing some non-anime fans to some anime) a couple of days ago.

And had a mini marathon of DNAngel and will be finishing it up soon.

Next series, Speed Grapher.

Currently watching Xam'd: Lost Memories.

The more recent episodes have slowed down a bit, but I wouldn't say it hurts the show in any capacity. 10/10 so far (About what I expect from BONES at this point though, and the show is clearly a spiritual successor to Eureka seveN which helps put it in my favour).

Finished Evangelion today, which was my first time watching it.

Then, on a whim, I decided to start Kure-nai, which has been excellent so far.

24 HOURS LATER EDIT: Finished Kure-nai, which was pretty good. Excellent characters, relationships, and development. It suffered from being stuffed into 12 episodes and it could have gone from good to amazing with another 12 or 13 episodes. Definitely worth a watch.

Watched Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight. Several people had suggested it to me. I wouldn't have taken a look at it otherwise, because of the art style and character designs. But, it didn't take very long for this show to grab me. On the surface, it's a slice-of-life sort of thing, but there are some deep undertones and the characters and their development is superb. It's an overwhelmingly positive anime and the feeling you get from watching it is closest to the same feeling you get from Gurren Lagann.

Working my way through Bamboo Blade, which is a fun little comedy about a high school kendo club.

Good thing they print everyone's name in subtitles every time they come on screen, or I'd need a scorecard.

Just restarted Saiyuki. This is one of the funniest animes I've ever watched. And it's certainly more enjoyable than Dragonball, which is also inspired by Journey to the West.
