Steamboy is pretty darned steampunk. I don't think Full Metal Alchemist is at all steampunk, but it bears many of the trappings. The same goes for the Wild Arms TV series.

Last Exile.

Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water.

Also, D.Gray-Man possibly...although I don't know if it fits the strictest definition of the term.

Last Exile! Good one. Howl's Moving Castle handily fits the bill, too. Sakura Wars and Steam detectives deserve a spot on this list as well.

Here's my list of anime that I need to watch due to reportedly containing some steampunk elements:

Samurai7
Secret of Cerulean Sand
Sakura Wars
Pumpkin Scissors

Now here's a list of things that I have seen that are fairly steampunk:

Nadia: Secret of the Blue Water
Last Exile
Howl's moving Castle
Castle in the Sky

Heat guy J probably.
There was a robot show on Spike a while back, by gainix, with robots that came out of boxes. Not sure what it was called but it seemed pretty steam punk.

Steampunk is a subgenre of scifi/fantasy or alternate history. Anything that takes place in an alternate 19th century society with tech like steam power, airships, or advanced technological inventions is generally classified as steampunk.

Have you watched Last Exile(out of the list that others have already made)? If not, watch that one first(no bias lol). It has a great story(many nods to Star Wars), is fast-paced, and is beautiful cinematography. And I mean, they're all flying around in airships. What's not awesome about that? The clothes are pretty cool, too. A little mix of WW2/18th century stuff. Another nice thing is that it has only about as much violence as Trigun(and also boasts a blond protagonist), and I don't really remember any other mal elements. And it's a mystery to see how everything fits together. For the most part, they answer those questions, too. So yeah, me likey Last Exile.

I can't think of any other steampunk anime offhand, but I'll post them if I do. I haven't watched many of the anime posted here. Putting them on list to watch.:thumb:

Xam'd: Lost Memories has some pretty strong steampunk vibes in what short episodes I caught. Sadly, Sony's distribution model is atrocious, or I'd recommend it wholeheartedly. If it ever hits DVD shelves though, go for it.

Read or Die has a couple of steampunkish scenes in it, with the villains being clones of historical figures and things.
