Hello from new slightly frightened member.

Hi!

I've been watching this site for a couple months now and finally decided to join for several reasons. *Deep breath* Here goes...

1. I am a Christian, a sinner saved by God's grace and my life's purpose is to serve and obey Him. I want the anime I watch to not distract me from that and I'm hoping this website will help with that via reviews, advice, etc.

2. I REALLY like anime! The first anime I ever saw was the movie Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind (on the TV channel TCM of all places!) and I LOVED it and it remains one of my favorites. A few series's that I've seen (although I haven't finished a few of them) and liked are:
Buso Renkin
Figure 17
Inuyasha (Sorta, I liked all the "SIT!" parts.)
Get Backers
The Twelve Kingdoms

And the movies:
Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind
The Place Promised In Our Early Days
Castle In The Sky

Also I'm about to get the first part of Last Exile from the library.

3.I am very grateful for the reviews posted. I have found some of them lacking details that I would have really liked to know before I watched a series. I wanted to be able to use the forum search for more in depth info on a series or movie before I watch it. Also to ask people what they personally thought was objectionable material which brings me to the question, if I have a question about anime content where do I put it or who do I ask? I don't want to start off by making people mad.

4. I want to surround myself with people that love Jesus and to encourage and be encouraged in His name (If that makes any sense) and I am hoping to make some friends here. I'm not very good at making friends in face to face situations so this may be better.

So, that's a great deal of the reasons I joined this site. I am very glad to be here and am looking forward to interacting with all of you!

P.S. I really like the aviaters (spelling?) and I was hoping to find one but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. Is there a gallery you can just go pick one from? Please forgive my internet un-savvy.....

I'm sure you'll get plenty of assistance with the avatar question soon. If you have questions about the content of various anime, simply search for an appropriate thread using the "search" link at the top of every page, or post a new thread in the "anime" forum (forums -> anime & entertainment -> anime).

Anyway, hope you have a great time!

You can screencap an image and resize it in photobucket or something (I think the size is 100x100), or you can look around on the internet for avatars.

As for getting to know people, go in the chat whenever there's a lot of us in there and go in there often. It's the easiest way to start feeling like you're a part of the community.

Or, you can just go in there even if no one's in there ^ ^ I'm sure someone will join you if they see you in there ^ ^

Everything should be set for you, so you should be able to access a working chat (some people still have trouble seeing others in chat) ^ ^

If not, just be sure to have things set to New Caa Skin (or something like that) ^ ^ That can be found in Edit Options in your User CP ^ ^ You can also change your font color and style in Edit Profile. Also found in your User CP

I've started watching 12 Kingdoms a while back.. Never finished it ^__^ I shall do some hunting around for it \o.o/

Some other anime that you could try out are Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Clannad, and Tales of the Abyss. Tsubasa was my first and I loved it!
