I am terribly behind today. I haven't written a single word and only have two more hours to do so. Fortunately I have a lot of tomorrow to make up for this. That I'm on the verge of a major plot point helps also.

Well, I haven't started yet. Mostly because I've been dealing with colds and with my own personal issues. I hope to get started soon, but I kinda wonder if I'm not waiting for the hammer to drop.

I'm behind, too! D: I only have 2,129 words. I'm gonna try to get to 5,000 today (LOL).

Yeah, I'm coming up on a plot point, too. That'll probably make the writing easier.

Good luck everyone! I'm actually on track, but I'm aiming to write about 3000 words today, since I have no school. I'm trying to get as many words as possible in the first week in case it gets harder later on. If it doesn't, I'll just finish early. :thumb:

I'm behind, but I'm catching up. Another 2000 words today and tommorrow and I should be caught up. Hopefully I won't have a random bout of writers block or anything like that...

I just hit the 5000 word mark last night... (5,781)

I did the math and to meet the deadline We would need to write 1700 plus words a day (if everyone was over 4000 yesterday XD)

I think I can do this! I'm planning on getting another 2000-4000 words written today...

what REALLY slowed me down yesterday was the fact that I was reading the first 45 pages over ^^; I got so freaked out about my plot that I just wanted to make sure that my earlier writings were okay.

I have one. A friend of mine coaxed me into doing it. I'm a little late on starting but by this weekend I plan on having at least 3000+ words.

I hope everyone exceeds their set goals! ^__^

Welcome to the asylum, yukoxholic!

Random question: What is everyone's favorite place to write?

I've been writing on my bed in my room, but that doesn't seem to be working well, as I either get very sore legs, or I fall asleep instead of writing. I'm at Panera Bread right now, so we shall see how it goes here. I'm also thinking of going to the library and using the quiet study room whenever I can. What about everyone else?

Man, I didn't even notice this thread... That's what I get for not looking around the forums enough.

I'm doing NaNo again, and boy, I'm excited! :D My story this year seems to be suffering from the same problem that plague my last NaNo novel: my story will take more than 50,000 words to complete. Since I plan to put my novel on fictionpress.com, this raises a bit of a dilemma. I think I'll be able to get 50,000 words this month, though, so that's good. Also, my word count is currently over 10,000.

My sister hates me for that.

EDIT: In response to the former question... I usually write at my desk in my room, using my laptop. I really enjoy not having to share a computer with anyone else for this NaNo (computer problems have limited my sister and I in past contests, but this time we each have our own laptops, so it's all good!) I usually try to get at least 1000 words in during the course of the day, and then another 1000 before I go to bed at night (the reason my word count is so high is because I plowed ahead for 6000 words the first day). I'm currently going to bed at one in morning, though, so lack of sleep will probably set in soon... followed by my characters' inexplicably breaking the fourth wall (that's what seemed to happen in my last story, anyway.)

My story might end up taking more than 50,000 words as well, but I'm not gonna try to force it to end there if it simply won't.

I can write anywhere now because I have a laptop, but I usually write in my room, mostly without music or with purely instrumental music. The first night I started writing my NaNo story, I had the opening song from "Paprika" on repeat, XD.

I'm going about half and half with the music. Sometimes it helps me write at home, but sometimes silence is better. I'm listening to it here at Panera to block out all the background noise. My novel is set in Germany in the early 1900s, so I'm listening to the industrial and renaissance music from my Civilization IV soundtrack. And occasionally, when I need a break, Caramelldansen. ^_^

XD my stories' probably gonna be longer than 50,000 too. I'm longwinded. But I think the goal is to just write AT LEAST 50,000 isn't it? I'll probably have to edit some of it though and have others try to edit it too... :x if it's good enough, I want to see if I can ever get it published XD.

Dang, since I've worked on this story before November, I've already got over 13,000 words (again I'm only counting what I've written since november 1st) XD.

I think mine will probably be about 50,000 to 60,000 words. I'm aiming to make a sort of light novel out of it, and draw a bunch of pictures for the different scenes over Christmas break. Then I think I'll edit it next spring some time, and get a copy printed for myself on Lulu.com. I don't think I want to try to get it officially published, though.

If my story isn't longer then 50,000 words I'm going to be rather disappointed (I do, after all, have no real plan to what I'm writting...yep, most of my story is purely improvised...woot...).

As for where I write, though I do have a laptop, becuase of an accident last semester that killed my space bar I am mostly tied to the desk in my dorm room...it's just too much of a production for me to move it these days. Hopefully I will get that problem fixed at some point so I can actually use my laptop elsewhere...like class...

Yeah, my story is mostly improv, too. I've had the idea for awhile, but never fleshed it out so I feel like it sucks compared to the one I regularly work on, XD. Oh well, this month will serve to flesh it all out anyway, so yeah.

Mine is sort of improv. I have some general ideas of where I want the story to go, and some pretty good ideas of what characters I want, but the rest I'm making up as I go along. Of course, how close the end product will be to my original ideas, I have no idea - by the time I finished writing the second page, I already had another unplanned main character. O.o

On another note, caffeine overdose is a terrible, terrible thing. >.<

Yeah, a new character decided to be like "O HAY SUP?" as I was writing, but it's all good 'cause more characters=more story.

Lol yup. For me it was like, "Hmm, my main character needs a reason to go upstairs - hey! Let's give him a brother!" And then it was like, "Hmm, I kinda like this brother. Let's bring him along on the quest." XD

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've been on CAA, but I just had to pop in to the annual NaNo conversation. :D

So..... NaNo is harder in college when I have more chances to be social. haha. I'm at about 3000 words right now, so I'm behind but I think I'm going to be able to write a lot on Saturday. And sudden inspiration and a new character hit me today, so I at least have a direction to go in. I just have a lot less motivation to do NaNo this year. And it doesn't help that in the past, my NaNos started out really good and got crappy, but this year its just starting crappy. Drat.

I don't know if I'll be popping in again, but good luck to everyone!

So if it starts good and ends crappy, maybe the reverse will be true if it starts crappy? ^_^

I'm actually finding it a lot easier to stay focused on this year when I'm busy juggling college and high school (I'm dual-enrolled) than in past years when I had all the free time in the world. It feels like I'm more motivated this year, because it's more fun compared to all the other stuff I have to do. But maybe that's just me.

Anyway, I just wanted to post and say: Yaaaay! I hit my word goal for today! Exactly 8000 words - at exactly 1 am, too. Interesting... ^_^

Sadly, I wrote very little today... I had a writing class, homework, and then a basketball game (and I thought homeschoolers were supposed to have more free time). Oh yeah, there was that other thing that kept me occupied tonight. Thankfully, I am ahead of schedule (yay first day push!), and I should have more free time tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to more words! (My high bar tomorrow is to get another 5000 words. Easier said than done, of course.)

As for my story... it's planned, for the most part. My original story idea was very long and complicated, and I thought, "Man, I'm never going to be able to get this in a 50,000 word novel," so I sliced it into a trilogy and focused on the first third of the story (just like Star Wars :D). I'm still developing the story as I go, though; I'm having trouble effectively juggling the abundance of characters I've created. My main character has only shown up for like 1500 words or so, and I'm already 10,000 in... but I'm working on it.

Good luck in all your stories, guys! Oh, and God bless America.

I think I ended up writing over 5000 words today...because somehow I have 11,536 words 8D (and that's not including the rest of my story... I have 19,000+ total XD)
