I have been assured by a very knowing Chinaman of my acquaintance in Boston, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout.

I do therefore humbly offer it to your consideration that your child be bred for consumption, as we allow for sheep, black cattle or swine. That he may, at a year old, be offered in the sale to the persons of quality and fortune through your city of dwelling; advising you, the mother, to let him suck plentifully in the last month, so as to render him plump and fat for a good table. A child will make two dishes at an entertainment for friends; and when the family dines alone, the fore or hind quarter will make a reasonable dish, and seasoned with a little pepper or salt will be very good boiled on the fourth day, especially in winter.

And just for the record, I don't think you're doing something wrong, in fact, I think you're doing right. I just want to say that in case someone comes up who tries to say it's a sin to give up a child for adoption.

I'm sure he'll/she'll be adopted very soon, as there are tons of people who want to adopt babies who can't get one because other couples scoop them up so fast. I'm sure your baby will be adopted by a couple who will love him/her.

I'm praying for you sis. I know its hard to make that decision. It doesn't make you less of a mother in my eyes. I'm sorry you have to make that decision sweetheart. If you want to PM me just to have a shoulder to cry on I understand.

I know that other people may not understand your decision but really this is something you feel is right because you do not feel that you can take care of the child as they need to be. *hugs I am not saying that I agree or disagree with your decision because I can't judge what your going through. I know myself that I wrestled with the decision to give a baby up for adoption if I got pregnant young due to my rape and abuse. And I know that decision is so heart breaking.

My only suggestion is to pray on it. I do not know if you can set up to where you can see the child occassionally (if that is something you want to do). Your baby will be protected my God and will lead his own life. So I know you will pray for him as he grows. And quite possibly later on in life you will be able to have a relationship with him (if you choose not to see him).

God will heal you Wind, and though other people may not condone it...they don't have to understand it and should show you love regardless. Frankly some of these people posts is dissappointing and if I'm offending anyone then they can PM so we can discuss and clear anything up. *smile

God loves you Wind, don't forget that. Nothing you do will change that and if this decision is not what God has intended for you.....He has a funny way of making his plans still go through.So don't worry and pray dear sister, he will speak to you.

Apparently the other CAA'ers have had difficulty believing Wind because she has a flair for being dramatic. I am writing this in big text because I would like to draw people who aren't carefully examining this thread to this factoid.And I like big text and I cannot lie, you other writers can't deny, and when a girl walks by with an itty bitty book and and a big word in your face you get etc.

Hmm... I find that sit/stay/and don't relieve yourself on the rug are good selling points in most adoptions. Give away a free bag of cat food as a bonus.
