Looking for a new church

Postby Aletheia » Sun Oct 19, 2008 5:20 pm

Hey everyone. I'm new here, so probably not a lot of people will know me, but from what I've seen in the past couple of days, this looks like a great community. Anyway, I wanted to ask for prayer for my brother and me. We are looking for a new church right now. For a long time, both of us have felt dissatisfied with the church we've been going to for the past several years, but it's kind of scary actually leaving and going to find a new one. Most of my close friends are at our old church, which is the main reason I didn't want to leave, but I really don't feel like I'm getting the spiritual nourishment I need.

Anyway, today we went to a church that one of my friends from school attends, and we both really enjoyed the service. We're planning on going back next week, because they're having a guest speaker who is going to speak on scientific backing for Creationism, I think. Anyway, it sounded interesting.

I don't know if this is the church for us, and there are some other issues I need to work out too, like what I think about certain scriptures, and how the churches we go to interpret these scriptures. But anyway, I'd like your prayers as we look for a new church, and try to find a community that is right for us. Thank you.

I'll pray for you, because I know I'll be dealing with this very soon myself.

Revelation 1:10-11: I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches to Ephesus and to Smyrna, and to Pergamum and to Theyatira, and at Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."
