The best western cartoons

Postby Gabriel 9.0 » Fri Oct 03, 2008 9:05 pm

I feel CAA needs a best western cartoon thread since it has a worst cartoon thred.

I'll start off with a few

GI Joe(1980's)
The othe GI Joe show from the early 90's
I hear GI JOE Sigma Six is way better in a different dub aside from 4kids crappy dub.
Beast Wars( its sequels Beast Wars 2 and Neo need a north American release)
Transformers Robot in Disguise( even though that is anime along with most of the other Transformers shows
Exo Squad
Looney Tunes
Felix the Cat
Dr Suess
Animiniacs
Tiny Toons
Star Wars Clone Wars, I mean the one that aired on Cartoon Network
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog
Mr Bogus
2 Stupid Dogs

Have a great weekend and Happy Shabbat:)
Some of my favorite scriptures.

Psalm91
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Hebrews 4-4
1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

James 4
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Also,

Batman: The Animated Series
Batman Beyond
Spiderman (I don't remember if there was a subtitle, but it came on in the 90s XD)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Looney Toons

I'm somehow blanking on the rest, but that's much of what I grew up on. XD

I'm seeing a bulleted list of my childhood. We're missing the The Real Ghostbusters, though. Fact: It was called that to diferentiate itself from another cartoon at the time called Ghostbusters about two guys and a gorilla loosely based off of a sitcom. That one was terrible, but the Real Ghostbusters was fantastic.

Of course the fake Ghostbusters (as I called it as a kid) was terrible. It was made by Filmation. They never made ANYTHING good.

Since most of the shows I would mention have already been mentioned, I would like to take this time to honor Megas XLR. A show that needs to be brought back...desperately...

I use to be a big fan of the Spider-man: TAS untill after I read how much better it could have been. The Xmen: TAS got away with some things that they couldn't do in the Spider-man:TAS, because FOX force some rules about the Spider-man series. Where it was pretty good, the team that did Spider-man had a better plan then what FOX would go for.

Which was kind of funny, since the Batman:TAS was on FOX, but it then moved to WB later down the road and from what some people believe that FOX wanted them to tone down the Batman:TAS in the later years.

Still, the Spider-man:TAS was alot better then some of the other Marvel cartoons, other then the Xmen one, since IMO, it was the best Marvel cartoon, but it was no Batman:TAS.

Other ones that I would add are,

Superman:TAS
Justice League
Justice League Unlimited

One thing that I like about the cartoons done by WB were. If you watch the Batman:TAS, Batman Beyond, Superman:TAS, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited was that some of the story lines were tied together as well as the Batman:TAS movies and the Beyond movie.

Another show that was good, but ended quickly was the Sci Fi cartoon Invasion America. The cartoon was base off the book done by Christie Golden. She did another book called on the run, but the series was never renew and book two never made it into a series.

I'd have to say X-men Evolution, W.I.T.C.H. (freaking love that show), As Told By Ginger, PepperAnn, The Weekenders, Rocket Power (cliched but watchable) The Wild Thornberrys (though sometimes medicore it was still above the rest of Nicktoons), Invader Zim, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Avatar: The Last Airbender (already mentioned), Teen Titans (Terra = evilly awesome), JSA and JSA Unlimited, Tiny Toons (also, already mentioned), JEM, Ahhh! Real Monsters, and Oban Star Racer.

Though I think Oban Star Racer is French isn't it?

Anything written by Disney in the 80s, Warner Brothers in the 90s, or Genndy Tartakovsky ever. Couple good Nicktoons in there too.

And Loony Tunes.

Because some people actually like your "mediocre" and/or "sucky" lister.

Like my current fave that is either totally obscure or on most "sucky" lists: Class of the Titans. The only western cartoon that I ever took seriously since the animated Tintin series; and that was like 14 years ago.
