I've just found an incredible live action adaptation by fans. If amateurs can do it this good, there is no reason the studios can't. If they don't I'll be supremely disappointed.

When I first saw that video I did think it was funny, but it is pretty good fanmade video.

He looks bored. Honestly, if I had an energy ball in my hand, I'd have some sort of facial expression.

You had hope?

This is going to destroy my childhood. Well, the later part of it. Early middle school. The more I read, the worse it gets. Every piece of information released is another shovelful of dirt on its coffin and another loogie spit on its grave.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

Ya I know I'm grave digging a bit but I just saw the trailer. Kinda surprised noone commented on it yet but anyway.

This look amazingly bad. Watching this, the first thing that came to my mind was Super Mario Brothers The Movie >.< Ya it looks that bad.

Trailer link for anyone who hasn't seen it yet... couldn't find a better quality one but anyway

My reaction exactly. Corrie, you read my mind. XD
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. Hey all we got right now is some action scenes. Maybe Roshi is still a perverted older (as in past middle-aged) man... he's still wearing a Hawaiian shirt.

Oh, and I really hope that's Chichi that Goku's kissing. By the way, I really hope that "Goku" is just some name the guy is given instead of his actual name actually. A white guy named Goku just sounds silly.

So I'm guessing that I'm probably the only one who saw this trailer and thought "AW YEAAAH!!"?

Seriously, talking about not being faithful to the original? How faithful was Dragonball to Journey of the West? While it's true that Dragonball never meant to follow the novel, I think the equivalent would be something like using the gods of the Greek pantheon as characters in an original story, then throwing in shapeships and aliens and power levels.

I am pretty psyched. It'll be like Forbidden Kingdom-- who cares if the main character's white, the plot blows, the dialogue stinks, and it makes no flippin' sense? JET LI AND JACKIE CHAN FIGHT EACH OTHER, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

PICCOLO IS NOT GREEN. D8 AND KRILLIN IS IN NO WAY INVOLVED IN THIS MOVIE.

It was better than the trailer for "Sex Drive" that played before without announcing it was an advertisement.

In any case, this looks somewhat like a generic action movie attempting to capitalize upon the DB name. Which would be fine, except for that the average action movie is fairly pathetic. I may actually not see this, depending on what reviews say.

His real name is Kakarot. Gohan (not Goku's son named Gohan) was the one who found him, and named him Son Goku. It's a play on the Chinese novel Journey to the West, one of the characters in that being a monkey named Sun Wukong. Goku has a monkey tail, an extending staff, and a flying cloud like Sun Wukong did, and the name Son Goku is the Japanese pronunciation of the kanji for Sun Wukong. In short, it's a tribute to the character in the novel.

Best to know the background about the series before you make comments, eh? :p

Being a former hardcore DB fan (when I was little), I'm still going to honestly admit that movie looks sort of interesting.

Granted, it looks like the typical "kung fu flick meant for Americans", but that's because they molded and shaped it to appear so.

Sure it's not "true to the original", but there's no way a live action adaption of DBZ staying true to the original would work.

The solution?

Don't make live adaptions of DB.
