David Blaine's "Dive of Death"

Postby SnoringFrog » Wed Sep 24, 2008 8:22 pm

So it just went off, and all I can say is: "What the heck?"

I'm just kinda...idk. It was weird. He jumped...and then he was lifted away...somewhere. Anyone else see it?

That was so dumb. I think they switched camera angles. Poor people who went to go see him. I thought that was a noose or something went wrong or something. I dunno.....it was....I dunno.
Where'd he go anyways? Oh well, it looked like he was having fun.

I didn't see it on TV but I saw peoples home videos who were there and OMG... epic fail. How embarrassing. It's funny hearing all the people in the videos. Everyone was booing and stuff.

And the announcer was pretty funny. "Wow... that was amazing! He jumped and then disappeared into the night sky mysteriously". Ya... you can see giant balloons floating him away in the camera flashes in a couple of the home videos.

What I THINK was supposed too happen was it was all supposed to be instant, jump woosh he springs up fast enough where you wouldn't be able to notice the chord. But the balloons got stuck or something so he was left just kind of hanging for a bit and slowly lifted away.

Yeah, first they said "Watch this death defying feat as Blaine catches a bullet in his mouth!"

...and then they ruined it by saying right before the "catch" that "this is all an illusion, don't try this at home."

Oh, yes, and the dive of death was sad. At first I thought he was commiting suicide (with that rope around his neck) and then he sort of drifted off. Sorry, but that was not very cool.

I liked the tricks they showed before hand though.

Ya.. I like his simple stuff but honestly all these "endurance tricks" kinda suck IMO. Whether he really does it or not, I don't care enough about the trick to even care if it was real or not. Sitting in a water dome? Big whoop... sure I guess thats about impossible for anyone else but who cares. Nothing "spectacular" about it. The hanging upside down thing? Yawn.... The dive of death was supposed to be something neat I guess but it flubbed.

Anyway, I like his little stuff like the card tricks and all that but David Copperfield he is not.

Anyone remember back when David Blaine did actual magic? It'd be cool if it was escape artistry, but this is nowhere near that.

To paraphrase Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, how long can he endure the 15-minute coffee break?! The suspense is killer. XD

All I know is that David Blaine still makes me think of Cheese-Its. What the eff?

STRONG BAD: Or I could go with the recent trend of street magic, but it usually just descends into dudes doing stupid crap to themselves in public.

{Strong Bad is shown wearing a greasy shirt. A can labelled "tips" is to the right of him.}

STRONG BAD: For six straight days, I will not drink, I will not blink, I will not think! And I definitely will not do any magic while standing on top of Bubs' concession stand!

{As he says this, the camera zooms out to reveal him on top of Bubs' stand with Homestar watching.}
