Writing

Postby Sakaki Onsei » Sat Sep 13, 2008 2:45 am

One of the weird things about God is how he can bring out some hidden talents in someone's life and show them just what could be done with them.

When I was much younger, I was big into writing fiction. The fiction that I wrote was deep enough that people really got into the stories. But, for a good while, I dropped writing. I mean, sure, I did writing in certain periods but never really was sat down to write. Until 2006. That was when I had my first depression incident (and my only major depressive episode. I've had depression since, but it's always been mild enough.). And during the interim period just before it hit, I wrote some really good stuff that could qualify as fanfiction, except it was quite original enough. The following day was the major depressive episode.

However, with my life being how it is right now, and how my search for a job will continue (though offers will probably not start even coming in until after November 4th), something inside of me just kept telling me to go and write. And, so, in the last week, I've created a main character and 3 first-tier supporting characters and just finished a "preface" to the beginning of my new story. And I just feel that God may be giving me the go ahead with a major project. I'm just feeling like this is something that could be used later down the road.

Anyhow, this post is a prayer for everyone to keep in their hearts. That the writing I do and the work that I'm doing be blessed by God and that his light can shine through the clicks of the keyboard that births the characters and ideas that make something special.

Pray that this gift God has given me continues to flourish, and that it helps me go somewhere.

From one writer (though I wish something really, really good and engaging would come out of these fingers soon! XD) to another, I'll be praying for you. :)

This thread will be a rolling update on how things have gone so far and what's I've done. There won't be much detail, but I'll give updates and ask for prayer on certain things.

Today's update: Since I posted, I completed the 4 main characters and have completed 4 typed pages, being the set-up for the rest of the story. I'm getting the establishment of the routine down first, before getting into the meat of the story. My goal is to have at least 1 page per night that I am up. And here's to hoping that works.

I would like for all of you, if at all possible, just to keep praying for me in regards to not looking at things too critically and just writing things out, to sort them out down the road. I am my worst critic, and it's what's caused me a lot of problems with some of my previous stories.

I understand this problem completely, as I am exactly the same. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Also looking forward to reading some of your work :).
