About Batman, Is it bad..

Is it bad that I like Batman The Animated Series more than the comics. Not that the comics are not wonderful, its just something in me likes the animated series more.

No, it's fine. As long as you're talking about the Animated Series from the early 90's. That was all kinds of awesome!

Would this be the reason you don't like the comics as much?

Oh geez, Ingemar, amazing. Batdickery for the win.

But this would be why I <s>hate</s> love Batman comics.

In the links (I presume minakichan's as opposed to Ingemar's).

Oh golly gee dearie me, that was a doddle-headed manouvre! Thank you, uc, for covering up for my silly-willy poopymouthy.

(I've wanted an excuse to use the words "doddle-headed" for a while.)

No it's not a bad thing. Batman: TAS is awesome. XD I want it on DVD.

Also, I love that "I'm the gosh-darn Batman" thing. XD That's amazing. XD

Okay, is it just me, or does anyone else here want there to be a superhero who uses plentiful minced oaths like in UC's example. Preferably an otherwise tough-as-nails type, with enemies and supporting characters who speak normally. Anybody? I know that I would be amused.

Of course it's not bad. In fact, in some instances TAS is the preferred Batman of many fans. No silly continuity errors or glaringly inconsistent character writing, no Jason Todd, great voice work by everyone involved, great soundtrack...

I have that issue of All-Star Batman and Robin. Frank Miller has gone completely off his nut with that series. It's incredibl...

...ly bad.

Also, I agree with Kali. If more superheroes spoke like the picture UC posted, the world of comics would be a better place.

I don't really follow the Batman comics. I did read Batman: Contagion and the other one where the huge earthquake hits Gotham. I followed the Nightwing series a bit more. Still, TAS rocks!

I'm of the opinion that All-Star Batman and Robin is so bad that it's great. "Dick Grayson, age twelve." Batman as something of a despicable senile terrorist. It's terribly entertaining. (But the art is nice.)

If you like Batman TAS, then might I suggest picking up the current issues of Detective Comics? It's currently being written by Paul Dini, the writer of some of TAS's best episodes like Heart of Ice and Over the Edge. The current arc, Heart of Hush, is really good and he also wrote one of my favorite Batman comics ever "Slayride" in Detective Comics #826. Where Robin is kidnapped by the Joker, who takes him on a terrifying drive around Gotham City near Christmas time. It's a great read, in fact I think all of Dini's run on DC is a great read, and would recommend it to all fans of Batman.
