Just wondering...

I was wondering exactly when CAA got started. From what I've gathered, Ashley hooked it up last May, and in less than a year brought over one thousand members to the site. If that's true, then I'm just speechless. It gives me hope for the website I want to develop.

Pretty neat, eh? I don't know full story, 'cause.. well... I wasn't there. If I remember correctly it started on a MSN message board, then they ran into Straylight (Djnoz) and formed CAA! I think there's a history thread somewhere....... I'll look for it...

26. June 2003 I think....

I remember it because I used to check it out back then... but after a little pause I became member in december...

That's simply amazing. I didn't know there was such a following of Christians who are into anime on the 'net. For some reason I always thought we were in the minority.

Ahem. Well this is a fun nostalgic thread.

CAA was actually started August 2001...and yes, I started it. I think we didn't get our first member til that september/october. Spring 2001 we started a message board forum at msngroups and stayed there for a good while. Until DjNoz showed up last May and offered us a domain name and forum software. And after a lot of prayer, we jumped on the offer...then saw our numbers triple within a month or so. Our staff's grown exponentially as well: originally it was just me, Shatterheart, Gypsy and Archan running the group, though Ink, Aaron, and ShiHi were all there as good little members.

It's amazing to think how far this site has come, really. For me especially...I was there when God first said, "hey let's do this". I know some of you old schoolers have heard this story, but I very nearly gave up on CAA that first winter because it felt so hopeless and there was no one signed up (originally this was only meant to be a website clique), but we hung in there and stuck it out. Now look at us...it's incredible. Lord, I still wonder sometimes why you chose me. But I'm so glad that you did.

Sniff...okay, now I'm all choked up...

Hey, wicked, I never realised this site started off as a msngroup.

*thinks back to previously disowned msn anime group and laughs*

I also didn't realise that this had only been a proper site for less than a year. Thats amazing. I thought it must have been around for years when I first joined!

Thats really kool!

*feels proud to be part of the sites first year 'sniff'*

Yeah... It's pretty weird to think how fast this site grew. It really brings my marketing training home.

"The only way to have a popular website is to give people somthing to keep them coming back."

Looks like we've got that down pat. It's gotta be the great-people-in-the-community part, I think.

"It's gotta be the Great-people-in-the-community thing."

I totally agree. I feel a little naughty saying this, but I was trolling around here for about two months before I joined. I kinda got burned by another forum and I didn't want to join a place where everyone argues and insults each other all the time. This place is definitely different from that.

And Ashley (I feel like I should call you Ms. Ashley or something, hehe), I'm generally VERY hesitant to say that God has called someone to do something, but in your case the evidence is abundantly clear. You probably get this a lot, but you've done an awesome job. To be honest, I'm a little jealous that you had the conviction and intelligence to manage a website at the age of 16. But anyways, I'm through gushing.

No really, don't...I'm only 17 guys. That makes me feel old. *looks to Shooby and OldPhil and shudders* ;)

And twilight, thanks for the compliments...it made me smile to read such kind words. But I'll be the first to say I only get partial credit for this place--the staff is wonderful, and of course, every good and perfect gift is from Him. ^^

Amen Ash. Praise the Lord for the wonderful things He has done through you, and through this community. May we continue to show the love of Christ to one another, so that all we come here will know that we are His disciples. All glory and honor and praise be to Him forever and ever.

I'm convinced that this site's growth and vibrancy has had little to do with anime. Although we were all attracted here initially by the common interests we share, not one of us would have stayed if the love of Christ was not made manifest in the members of this community.

Thanks for the encouraging story Ash, I hope it will help me to persevere in faith when I feel like giving up.
Our lives are but a vapor, let us not let waste our time and breath on vanities, but let us spend ourselves for the Kingdom, seeking a better resurrection.

If the site managed to get this far in under a year then think how far its going to get in the next 10 years!!

Well if post-millenial movies are right, we'll either have the Internet inserted directly into our brains or we'll all be bloodthirsty nomads, seeking precious water in an apocalyptic wasteland.

Amen. Yep, I sure am glad to hear the monumental rise in such a short span. I am certainly glad I came across this place so many great individuals, caring and open. Just imagine perhaps how much this place can grow in a year or so.

Congrats, by the way to Ashley, Straylight and the WHOLE staff.
